Well, not on this forum. I'm back to owning a Tacoma.

On Friday, I bought a 2017 SR5 Crew Cab V6 4x4. It's my first 4x4, but not my first Tacoma! Back in August 1997, I bought a 1995 Tacoma extended cab I4 and owned it for 5 years. I did field service fixing printers and computers for a couple years with it, and it was stupid reliable. I only replaced the clutch at about 130k, IIRC. Great little truck.

So life has me getting into a new awesome hobby, and I figured a truck would work best for me. I was considering keeping my car (2013 Chevy Volt - awesome car for a DD if you never really need to haul anything and stay relatively close to home) and picking up a used SUV. Then I thought to myself "self, you could just get a truck, check out Tacomas!" Well, I'm sure everyone here knows how well Tacomas hold their value. Anything around $15k I wanted to spend would have been 12-15 years old with a ton of miles. I looked at newer ones, and found a 2 year old Taco with 60k was only $3k less than I could get a new one for... so this got the gears turning...

Since I bought my second house in '15, and I've kept my spending sane, my credit score has gone way up... I figured I could swing trading the Volt on a truck... I made contact with a dealer and set it up. Friday I went in and pulled the trigger.

I ended up with this sweet Silver SR5 4x4 - the step rails, mud flaps, bed LEDs and window tint were essentially free. I paid just under $34k.

What's that in the back? That's my paramotor! I'm a powered paraglider pilot and that's my 27hp butt-fan that makes me fly. Thusly, I have named this truck my Para-Taco! It's gonna be a great vehicle for my hobby.

I also intend to do some road trips to fly-ins, or just to other areas of the country to fly. Eventually I may look at a rooftop tent setup so I can do some camping. We'll see.

I'm happy to be back in a Taco. I hope the forums don't make me too tempted to mod the heck out of it! (I probably will do at least some light modding... )
