Is there anyone running a heavy flywheeel from LCE. I've got a supercharged 2.7l 5spd. My motor has 280k pretty close to wore out. The supercharged is new less than 6k on it just figured if I was going to replace the motor now would be the time to look into the flywheel.

The supercharger made a pretty decent increase on power but my truck won't hardly spin the tires in first gear unless I'm in dirt. Only running 265's on 2.5in lift

you need the v-6 and why are you wanting to spin the tires?? It's a 4x4 truck not a sports car! I can spin mine but i try not to do that ever.

I don't try to spin the tires the truck is strictly for work I put a lot of miles 1400 round trip every 14 days. So I installed a supercharger for all the hills I go thru not wanting to down shift. I only referenced the tire thing saying it is underpowered even supercharged. I had hoped that the charger would boost it a little more that it did but the motor is just too wore out.

Also I've had a v6 not a fan of them. The 2.4 and 2.7 4cyl I believe are the toughest little motors Toyota has ever built. Mine is for gas mileage even wore out with the charger I'm getting 18.5-20 mpg.

If I need a truck with power I'll drive my duramax and want something fast I'll drive my Cherokee

Thanks for the input on the flywheel

    I have a 3.4. But I have their 38# FW AND a supercharger.

IMO. A heavier flywheel is only good for off-roading. Because that's it's only performance enhancement I have come to find by running it. I can blip the throttle and never stall over rocks that'd I otherwise not be talented to do.

If you don't crawl rocks and have larger than 33+ tyres, I doubt you'll be happy with it.

It sucks your "off the line" acceleration, and has a few other attributes that I don't care for ..but this isn't my DD. Just my off-road rig...

Well Shit that's completely different can of worms there. I also drive a manual and the heavier flywheel will help but it also could affect acceleration to where you would not like it. I have tried a light flywheel and that is a NO GO for me. I prefer the factory flywheel and a lighter clutch assembly. Or a lighter crankshaft pulley. If your all freeway then yes that will help a lot just a little saggy n laggy in the wind up. I didn't quite get what you were hinting at in your question and apologize for the off reference response. lol thought we were dealing with a young tire spinner!

That's good to know. Lce has been really helpful as far as SC install and components for it as well. They recommend the flywheel and they said that it would also help with not having to down shit as much. I drive from east Texas to New Mexico for work every 14 days and when I hit west Texas I start getting into hills. As stated before this truck is for work and only off road it sees is my lease roads to get to the rig and the occasional rain out. But for the most part strictly highway.

They haven't steered me wrong so far I was just hoping to get some other real world opinions on it.

Only thing I haven't been happy with about my truck is the magnaflow exhaust system. They recommend a high flow system and that's what I went with. Don't care for the noise been thinking of putting stock exhaust back on.

Sexy - looks like I'll be getting the heavy flywheel too - I don't need acceleration as much as cruising and rock crawling advantages. You could port and polish the head. That would give you a bit more power now that you have forced induction.

even with the high boost kit your only around 200hp. If you want more power then go turbo.

I was but a truck I was looking at fell thru. Was really only planning to sell to have extra cash to put down with trading my jeep in.

So since I'm gonna keep it might as well replace the motor, clutch, flywheel and a couple other misc item under the hood just to keep it up and running good. One that's done I'll end up doing a SA swap on it

Ok well I talked with LCE again this am and the tech I talk'd with today said unless I have 33's or bigger that he didn't see the 30lb flywheel benefiting me. So now I'm not real sure.

I hate to waste 400 on a unnecessary item. But in the plus side I did get a new motor ordered.
