Installing Bilstein 5100's, OME Dakar Leaf, and OME 888 springs

From what I've read if you leave the Bilstein 5100's on the bottom setting you should get about 2.75 out of the front and 2 inches from the rear. My question is.

Does anyone have any pictures of their similar lift and if I wanted to get 3 inches out of the front and level it out in the rear does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks. Looking forward to getting this lift installed.

Smitty doesn't have 5100s, he has the Bilstein 6112 / 5160 combo.

I have 5100s but on 885 springs and a 3 leaf Progressive AAL

 

What exactly is the question here? Also do you really think you'll notice that 1/4" difference? Hint: The answer is no.

 

I don't recommend 5100s because I have read too much feedback that they ride harsh/stiff but they will work for a budget lift and some people like them just fine. I do not know the specs on the 5100s so I recommend searching the Suspension Subforum to find answers to your questions and to get feedback on it. A ton of people run 5100s, they are probably the cheapest lift you can run without doing the 'taboo' "spacer lift" ...we won't go there...

What makes you feel that you need or desire 3" of lift? Do you understand the impacts of costs and wear & tear on your vehicle that a 3" lift can bring vs. a 2" lift?

I recommend a 2" lift maximum. Note that if you go over 2" you're going to need to buy new upper control arms if you want to be able to keep alignment numbers somewhere in the normal range and not have the truck drive like shit on the highway (darting around with extremely sensitive steering) because of your caster being out of whack. Also you're going to need to research getting the East Coast Gear Supply (ECGS) Bushing to replace your factory needle bearing which is a 2 to 3 hour job if you have the knowledge and tools otherwise a $300 to $400 job with parts and materials. You'll likely want to do this when you install the lift as if you do not, the truck starts vibrating like hell, you're going to need to tear the front driver side suspension all back off (or pay someone the labor) to install the ECGS Bushing to fix your vibes.

Spacers make rubbing worse due to pushing the wheel and tire out towards the firewall.

 

So what are my options then?

 

Do some reading in the suspension forum. These types of questions are asked every day and are beaten to death. Gotta use the search function man! You know it gets tough to answer these questions because they get asked so frequently and you have to type the SAME stuff over and over. That's really why using the search function is your best friend!

I've bought this lift. I'm not trying to fit 285's on stock setup.

 

Point being it's not about lift, it's about wheel and offset.

 

You have to be ready to CHOP and TRIM if you want to run 285s. end of story

 

5100s, Headstrong 3AAL. Middle setting, got 3.4 all around. Has settled to 2 7/8 all around.

 

this^^^ I did it and had to trim the front wheel well as well
as some of the plastic (closest to the door).

 

3 leaf Progressive AAL? It's good for 1.5". .....maybe 2" if you leave the Overload in from what i recall

 

Yep, left mine in and got 2 inches in the rear.
