    A little lift and a little armor
    First thing I welded for my truck was this. Fits in between the topper, mounts to the stock bed rails, and was the solution for me. Just another idea for you, if you're looking..

    Using the bumper as your mounting point for the antenna isn't the best location if you're looking for clear coms.

    That won't work for me either. @itaro can confirm as wel but there is no room to fit anything under the softopper on the tailgate like that. I can barely close my tailgate as is because Bestop was too lazy to re-engineer it for the 3rd gen.
