My Garmin shows the speed limit of any given road you are on. That is really helpful because I do not pay attention to signs and always miss when limits drop.

On longer trips where I use cruse control, I leave the Garmin on the statistics screen where it shows (real big) my actual speed. I like this because it shows that my speedomter is 3mph off (I'm going slower than what it shows). Of course this also helps me to not speed because I forget about that deviation.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
jeeze all this talk of really high ticket prices. I got an 82 in a 45 cause apparently there was a construction zone underneath the overpass i was on....given i was still speeding in the 65 zone i was in, my ticket was only 125.

add me to the list of saps whove gotten tickets on bicycles. back in my college days I rode my bike to a party, trying to do the responsible thing by not drinking and driving (a car). on my way home I got pulled over by a bike cop for having no light on my bike ($20 ticket). then on top of that I got a drinking ticket for 300 something dollars. total f-ing waste of money and total waste of attempting to be responsible.

    hahahaha

my ticket story was this past xmas i was in ab to see my gf. took a trip down to see some family in calgary. when i got there i turned too early and headed down a highway heading into the city. noticed i was going the wrong way and turned off and came back the other way. after i turned around i was doing 90 km/h. reasonable seeing as how its late and im the only one driving on a 3 lane (one each side) divided highway. the cops had a set up on the side of the road, i was in a construction zone (no equpiment or signs around ) so the speed limit was dropped down to 50, and me not being from that area i didnt know the speed limits so i got jewed. oh and the only speed limit sign around was on a pole right where i turned around so i missed it as i was looking for traffic and making my turn.

the ticket was $309 and 4 points

because i was only vacationing i couldnt go to court and fight it so my aunt did for me and got it reduced to $150 and 3 points. this was on a probationary drivers license

the date on the ticket for court appearance wasnt due for a while yet so as soon as i got back from vacation i went to the dmv and got my lisence changed to a fully licenced driver just to be safe :)
