I'm about in the same boat as you being 43 though, thinking about an MBA to go along with my engineering degree, which I got back in 2000. I have 3 kids though, 9, 11, and just turned 1, so not exactly your situation haha. I say if you have the time, funds, and drive, go for it! One can never be too educated, can they?

I've had people that have worked for me that have an MBA and they aren't any better than others without one. Meaning, I don't let an MBA influence my hiring of someone. I've hired kids right out of college that are just basic "go getters" that work their ass of and learn the business. That makes the difference, not just the paper from school...BUT extra education does say that you have put in the time and effort to improve yourself and your business skills. For me it really just comes down to the persons level of motivation for me.

Bottom line is..if you have the financial resources to get the degree...DO IT. It will never hurt you, only help. No matter how old you are.

One can never have too many light bars.
Never too old to improve yourself. Who knows it could open up doors that you never knew existed. I think I paid 30K after books, tuition etc at a Cal State School. I could have done it cheaper but I liked the classroom format and it was 20 min from my house. Not sure about your specific program but if you seem to be liking specific classes more than others think about specializing (marketing, finance, accounting, etc).

I'm 3 classes away from graduating with my MBA. It took awhile to get here, but i just got a promotion to a new position within my department last month and i know for a fact that it helped. I was up against 30 people, and of those 7 got interviews (including a co-worker). The MBA statistics / business analytics classes exposed me to a number of concepts (big data, Business Intelligence (BI), data warehousing, etc) that were directly relatable to the new position. I was able to speak at length about these topics, and how they could be applied within out department.

My employer is also funding my MBA, so I'm sure it was good for them to see their investment paying off.
