What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

@m3bassman -You run a 2 ft firestick on your hood for your cb, right? I have had a 4 ft on my rear bumper with really bad results, was told it is from my plastic bedliner. What kind of mount is yours? Where did you source it from? I was just qouted $100 for mount, 6.5 ft of coax and a 2ft firestick, seems kinda steep to me. Thoughts...

 

Well I think the worst part is over. Gonna wipe it down a more times tonight, one or two times in the morning and then start painting.

I recall, back in the day, that we mounted it on the bumper of our old school chevy van.

 

Looking forward to seeing the end results. How many hours would you say you've put into prep?

 

I was told it is more of a problem with the plastic bedliner, than with the location. No metallic ground plane to improve transmission/reception.

 

Scratch that, I just came up with the answer. I was on the fence about ditch lights, but the light mount could also serve as an antenna
mount. I think I will do that, Rago fab mounts with Cali-Raised pods (they are near my work, no shipping!)

 

Excellent work on the conversion! Glad to see someone else sporting the George Castanza wallet.

 

I highly recommend completely masking off windows, headlights, things you don't want permanently bedlined, etc. Monstaliner tends to fling off the rollers as you're applying it, getting little spots of paint basically everywhere. Great stuff though, holds up really well.

Windows are in the doors, thanks for the tip I'll go put a garbage bag over the windshield and stuff.

I guess I should known, that's what the hercliner did on my tool box and bumpers.

 

Glad I bought a 4x4 DC in the 1st place. I wonder which cost more? My truck or your truck having to do the conversion?

 

I bought those 1156 reverse bulbs from @csjumper2003 when I switched from stock taillights to LED. They aren't as bright as I thought they would be backing up either. I should've installed pods for reverse lights. Those bulbs didn't live up to the hype. I got the $65 ones

 

Time to pull the trans out and figure out what's broke inside, truck has no pedal at all until the floor now and won't go into gear something isn't releasing cause when I try to dry shift into gear it will grind

Yup clutch fork and the cylinder seem to be okay, think a spring may have broke on the clutch.

 

Got the rock sliders installed today and repainted the front bumper and threw on the new skid plate

 

Watched my truck piss out gallon after gallon of coolant. Leaking somewhere near the water pump. Thankfully im doing the timing belt here in the next week so I will address the issue then. Until then if I need my truck I will refill the radiator as needed. Hasn't gotten hot on me yet thankfully.

What product are you using??
On a different note, what coolant is recommended for toyotas?? I need to do a flush soon.
