I spent 1200$ but I did all the work to it. It would be cheaper to do the conversion. I saved money by swapping out the output shafts of the transmission and I learned a good bit of automatic trans.

The roof is the best location to get the most out of a CB antenna for reception and transmission range. But most people are not keen on the idea of drilling a hole in their roof to mount an antenna up that high. The hood mount imay be the best compromise because the hood surface offers a great ground plane surface for the radio's signal to reflrct off of.

I know it looks cool but the tailgate and rear bumper are about the worst locations for range. Its not the plastic bedliner tho. It the shape of the bed with the high sides.

I recently installed a CB on my truck, and I ended up putting the mount/antenna right by the tailgate and I will say you seem to be right about this. I don't have experience with CBs so I can't say for sure, but I don't think my range is great and the SWR of the upper channels is less-than-ideal. For me, it's fine as I use it just for trails where people are nearby and we are usually on lower channels. But messing around with it otherwise, the performance isn't great. If someone had broader needs for their CB, I'd suggest looking into a different location.

I know the tailgate mount is far from ideal but for trail riding it serves me, and the others, perfectly fine. Leo and I tested the range on my CB and it was about 2 miles in residential area. On the trail I've never lost communication with my party.

    That's good enough for me.

That was my experience as well. I ended up moving mine to a hood mount and the SWR improved and the range about doubled. If it is a big concern, it might be worth trying.

 Glad to hear its working for your situation.

Like Sente said, if my needs change so will the antenna location.

I'll tell you what made the biggest difference was the antenna itself. I originally had a 4' Firestick and that thing sucked balls. I couldn't get a good tune ever and the range and signal were dismal.

I switched to a Wilson 4' antenna and it was day and night. Great tune, decent range, great sound quality.

Not sure what all this is about but I just saw that I was tagged in something, so I checked it out. I looked up your order that was placed back in December

"I got my LED's for my reverse lights today but it's not dark enough yet for me to see how bright they are. But just after installing them I could tell a huge difference over stock in the daylight. As soon as it gets dark, I'll have to get some pictures.
    Thanks,
    Morgan "

With the oem position you cannot have light where the taillight cuts off. Light cannot go where it cannot go. Its upsetting over the months you have never once sent a single pm or email to me and just stated this on the open forum.

The lumen rating is 900 lumen so im kind of curious Where this has came from 8 months later.

I replaced axles a few weeks ago and heard some clunking and screeching from my DS front wheel.
Pulled into my shop and discovered this....

Apparently I forgot to tighten up my caliper bolts!

Well, if the bolt is going through the plastic liner than it should be making contact with the actual bumper. I wonder if it has to be higher?

Thanks for the cb antenna info. Secondary, and less likely option after Mike's input, I have thought of putting a 4RNR roof rack on my cab, maybe I could put the antenna on that although it would be very tall for trails with trees. The struggle is real...

Got the frame all stripped now, only thing I left on was the front diff which I still may take off but no real reason to. Should have it sandblasted within a week I hope.

Its a Limited Slip with 4.88 Gears. Came out of a 1400 truck.

Oh shes more than ready to party, my truck isnt setup to party that hard though. This housing is setup for 4 Link. Im going to be doing SUA. So the gears and limited slip are going to go in for the time being, then ill get that housing prepped for a swap with SUA setup after front long travel goes on.
