Hey guys, I am looking to buy an older tacoma. I currently have a 2016 mustang GT and am wanting something a little more practical to daily drive (particulary a truck) while the mustang will be my weekend toy. Tacomas that I've seen for sale in my price range have anywhere from 170-350k, and I drive 60 miles a day for work. I've been looking at the 98- 2002 year trucks. I am wanting an automatic transmission. Anyone have experiences good or bad with the transmissions and engine on a high mileage truck? Any insight on whether buying a high mileage truck would be a good idea would be great. Thanks!

    Welcome to Tw!
First lower mileage is typically better but not in all cases. Your looking for a well maintained truck preferably with service history and records. Second is start looking at frames for rust. Make sure all things are up to your standards.

Welcome to TW! The Tacoma auto trans has a very good rep for reliability, but they still need maintenance. Maintenance records are a must in my view when buying used vehicles.
