Test drove that 16 yesterday turned out to be a OR debadged I like it but wasn't impressed with the powerband on it. Shifted a little off not sure about it but the numbers do match up good with me. If I pull the trigger my icon setup will be for sale soon.

There are many reports of the transmission being an issue on the 3rd gen and I would agree. Its just okay stock. I tried using a 3rd party device to control shifting called the ShiftSense Pro and it helped for a while. it uses S mode and shifts based on throttle position, speed, rpms, etc... works pretty good except you will never, ever see 6th gear. At least I didnt since I dont drive 77+ very often.

I then got the Orange Virus Tuning calibration kit. This is an ECU and TCU tune however currently he hasnt released a specific TCU tune. Much of the transmission is controlled by the ECU. Toyota has started using these various maps to control throttle, torque, etc. Throttle position is not an indicator of how much throttle the engine map is applying at that time and so this is really what the issue with that engine/trans combo is. OVtune has pwnd the ECU and on the 1.01B tune, the throttle response and shift points are pretty damned good plus you get about +30 torque in the middle of the power band and about 9hp additional up top.

Its both, haha! They are trying to satisfy CAFE standards and the powertrain is setup for that. The trans hunts a TON on slight uphills or headwinds and so Toyota has had multiple TSB's to try to handle it... so far, its still not handled.

Cruise control on a stock yota was useless for me... it would be constantly hunting and even shift down into 3rd on slight uphills/headwinds.... it was really kind of a bummer. With the tune, its gotten significantly better although with all the weight i added, it still hunts some.

Thanks Sohail I really appreciate your insight gonna drink on it I still really enjoy my current one. But man that murderd out speaks to me. I like the upper range of the powerband but a slug off the line.

Yup, it sure is a dog off the line... the tune doesnt help much at all other than throttle response in the low part of the band either. That truck looks real nice though!! I dig the 3rd gens looks

I like the idea of a place that is close to the Oasis! I've been to Emma Long but neither of the other 2.

There is a small park literally behind the Oasis.

    That's where I usually take the SUPB's.......
