There was a slight odor for about a day after it was done, now there is no unusual smell

When you say pillar trim and kick panels from later models, do you mean 2012-15? Or 2016+? Curious to find these parts cause I'm trying to black mine out without using paints or dyes. The previous owner painted it all black. It looks good. Just tired of having to redo it all every few months.

Haven't nailed down all the specific yrs but black consoles and carpet started showing 2012 or 2013. Have seen black seatbelts, door pillar trim, kick panels and door sills but that may be 2016s. Cab structures should be same. Been kinda distracted from my research but need to get back on it..............It gets a little harder for some of this stuff since no more reg cabs. Assuming some "fitting" will be required for some of the rest of what I'm looking to do.

Word. I haven't paid too much attention to the 2016 interior. I picked up a black center console out of a 2012 about 2 years ago. Most of the dash pieces I'm shipping out this weekend to be hydro dipped. Just need to get my hands on the pillar pieces between the front and rear seats. Those were the pieces that were painted and the seat belt keeps rubbing the paint off.

What pattern are you doing with the hydrodipping? Or is it going to be solid color?

Kryptek Typhon pattern for the pieces around the radio, hvac controls, window switch bezels, tweeter rings, and the rings on the speedometer panel. For now. After those are done I'll probably do the chrome piece at the base of the auto shifter and the panel that's on the console around the shifter

One of the best pieces of advice anyone gave me is in regards to interior customization. I have painted several pieces of my interior, but in case you want to know what blacking out a piece would look like first without the commitment of paint, or the expense of vinyl wrap, plasti-dip works great on all plastic parts. Take it off, spray it on, reinstall, and if you don't like it after a few days, peel it off. Just don't plan on using it long term, it attracts dirt like a magnet and will start to peel after some time. I've done it to several pieces and it saved me down the road when I decided I didn't like it.

I just prefer to commit to leaving it gray or it actually being black. That way it stays the same color no matter what brushes/hits/scratches it.

That's how I am but since my interior was already painted when I got it I don't really have a choice. lol. Guess I'll just wait until a few totaled 2016's surface and get parted out. On a side note I'm sending the first half of my dash parts to get hydro dipped today.

Looks like 2016 kick panels and door sill plates are black but windshield pillar covers are light colored. Not sure about the B pillars............

How's the paint holding up? I was thinking of doing the same? And what is that flat black

Yes it's flat black, and the paint still looks great! It's definitely easier to tell when the interior gets dusty so I clean it maybe once a week, but I still like it A LOT better than the silver.

Did you sand prep primer or clear coat? Also how many coats?

I did sand and prep, it's tough to get all the lint off if you dry it so I sanded, washed and air dried all the parts. I did not primer, I put on a very light coat of paint for the first layer, then put two coats of paint on top of that, then put some matte clear coat on top one or two coats of clear is plenty.
