Oi Tacomaworld SoCal guys and gals,

The wife and I are looking to check out Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios in LA this year and want to avoid spending a fortune on hotels. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced campsite in the area?

Wife needs a shitter and a shower or it's no deal...

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Joshua

The only place I can think of is the rv park off the 5 fwy and 126. But that's 45 minutes from universal. Have you looked into air b&b's yet?

Theres a couple campgrounds the the angeles forest north of Altadena. But you would have to hike a little and there is a decent amount bike traffic in that area

Not quite sure yet, we're still trying to see when we can go. More than likely we wouldn't do more than a weekend trip.

I camped at Malibu Creek State Park a couple of weeks ago, looks about 30 min from Universal. It was an OK spot with hikes and water, but I wouldn't suggest swimming, it is a bit stagnant with lots of people. At $45 a night, it was not cheap. Clean shitters and showers available.

No idea about campgrounds, LA, or universal studios but Bostons rock! Good Luck!

Universal is right in the middle of Hollywood (sort of)...any camping will either be in the mountains outside of LA or up north towards the beach...or out towards the desert. Either way you're looking at an hour long or more commute at least to get to Universal.

Rowher Flats is a popular offroading 4x4 area ourside of Santa Clarita on the north end of LA county. There's camping there and a lot of cool trails to drive around

my Boston went down a couple years ago. I still miss that little rascal. My spouse has somewhat high campground standards. We have stayed at Pt. Magu State Beach just North of Malibu. As I recall there's at least two separate campgrounds in the park with toilet/shower facilities. About an hour from Universal.

We took the kids to Disneyland for Halloween when they were in high school and it was a blast. The most entertaining part was the other patrons and their costumes. I don't dare mention the Universal event or I'll get roped into that.
