This past Feb I was driving through the cold to go skiing and my airbag light came on. I think it was when I turned the cruise control on. Horn and cruise control STILL work (lots of people report airbag light with horn and cruise not working). I brought it to my shop and they read and cleared the code - it was a B0106 and there could have been a second code too - I forget. That took care of the airbag light until I honked my horn and it came right back on.
Brought my truck into the dealership today and got an ungodly estimate just to diagnose the problem. I'm thinking it could be related to the spiral cable? Any ideas?
Truck is a 2002 xtra OR
    Thanks!

B0106 is passenger side air bag squib error. You need to be sure about what all the codes are.

That sounds a lot like the clock spring. Controls all that stuff.

    Clock spring.

At least your horn still works. I am on my second clock spring which has been defective.

yep, definitely sounds like it is your clockspring. Horn, cruise control and airbag are all interconnected through the clockspring, so it would make sense it is your culprit. Especially as it came back after you used your horn

a tip for you if you plan to to go the junk yard for a replacement:
old corollas and camrys use the same clockspring than tacos and are much more common than tacos in the junk yards.
