Down for the cooler-off. I have a piece of shit knock off yeti that kept ice in 100* temps in Moab for 4 days.

But since I'm not a Neanderthal anymore and have fridges, the ice chest is only good for these kind of comparisons and bringing ice to TW meets for margaritas.

I'm pretty sure this one the lid is insulated, it doesn't flex and I can see the little fill holes with the foam in them too.

Yeah, I know the hardware is a bit overkill, but this cooler probably won't leave my bed.

Thinking of heading to usal to camp on the beach this weekend. Anyone have some info on camping over there? I know from @Mademan925 to check tide status but rather than that I'm clueless as to the ins and outs of the area

That's a great deal. Don't suppose you have a link? The cheapest I found was about $220. Still a decent deal for a 65qt.

EDIT: Never mind. That $220 was for something else.

I love it! Nice ride in, wheeling all around, gorgeous scenery. What's not to like?? I have been open minded and tried other spots. Wife disapproves.

Never having to deal with ice and wet food is amazing. I have to say I think my fridge is one of the best things I've gotten for my truck.

Nothing like beer on ice. You get a good ice chest you won't have water till the 4th day and not enough to get into your food.

I feel like there's a certain point where it doesn't feel like camping anymore. The back of my truck is nice and convienient but sometimes I need to sleep on the ground in my tent. I feel much more at home on the ground in my tent. My 1st love is still backpacking. I love the caveman aspect.

As for the fridge this weekend is my 15th weekend camping this year. Not having to buy and deal with ice is sooo worth it. The downsides of the fridge are it's 45 pounds empty. You can't really carry it to a remoter campsite, you gotta plug it in and deal with it's power needs. If it stops running it sucks..

The main reason i dont care for the fridge is the power consumption. Like you said 45lbs dry plus an extra battery or lots of running your truck to keep it powered. Extra battery another 35+ lbs that adds up quick. Plus like you ssid its stationery. Thats fine if thats what you do, live out of yoir truck. Or camp as much as you. ME i camp like 4 to 6 weekends a yr tops. I do want one for my boat but the power needs is not something i feel like dealling with just yet.

Agreed....It's a pretty big pain in the ass to go through for cold beer.

I need to get back to backpacking though. Walking and carrying all you shit on your back is differant than the truck camping. It does more for me.

    Me too!
The jealous part, not the Alaska part.
It's been several years since I've gone out hiking for anymore than a 3 day weekend.
