Thanks man! You're correct about the CB but sadly I haven't had the chance to use it. It was installed by the previous owner and they took the antenna, mic, and power cord with them so right now it just sits there.

That's a nice stereo! I've been looking into a Pioneer double din. I currently have a Pioneer single din with aux outlet to plug a cord into my phone to listen to music. Off topic response, but are you going to replace the center bulb that's out in the HVAC area. That would drive me crazy! The crappy part is, you can't just pull the faceplate off. You have to pull the whole thing out and install the bulb from the back. PITA!!! Ask me how I know. :threadjacked:

Haha yeah it's something I need to do as well as replace my dash lights for my speedo. When I install my backup camera I am also going to run a camera on my front bumper so I can see upcoming obstacles so that will probably be a good time to do everything at once. Little things like the light being out are always a bother to me but I just need to find the time to take care of it. Maybe one day!

Which model is that? Did it come with a USB cord that plugs into the back of the unit? Curious because I see you have the charger where the ashtray went.

It is the pioneer AVH x490bs. It's the updated model from the 4800. Yes I ran a USB/aux plug where my ashtray was. I just plugged it into the back of the stereo. Look a lot more clean.

I've got one of these in my 2004 http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/NEX/AVH-4100NEX
I do not find the reverse cam location to be low, it actually is right where i like it, i do however find the gps to be a little low, if, you like to watch the screen while you drive, but, i like that you can hear it through the truck speakers, and it auto turns down the vol of whatever your listening to at the time it speaks. the bluetooth works great, and can control the phone so you can skip tracks and whatnot. getting the android auto connected is a royal pain, and, its built in usb isnt powerfull enough to charge modern phones. but it does have 2 usb ports, as well as a mini hdmi, and you can connect a usb pen drive to it and leave it, so if you run a cable to your glove box you can change that out whenever you want. you also can connect sat radio to it for about $40, and the head unit totally controls that as well. and the bluetooth calling works very well. radio reception is also very good

Once you have everything working, it does in fact work very well, but getting it setup takes a couple of minutes. and the limit on charging newer phones sucks if you have a phone with a short battery life. When i used my lg g4 to get to texas from tennessee last year, if i hadnt had a spare battery it would have died halfway there. but, while in texas for a couple of months i got a moto z force, and it had more then enough battery to make a day long trip.

I have an AVIC 8000NEX and I absolutely love it to death. Fast, responsive, smart enough for my tastes and has almost every single connectivity option available at this current point. Everything is wired in such a way where it utilize all stock connectivity points including the USB and audio jack points. Granted I have a 2nd gen so it's placement is good for not looking down a lot while driving, but a fantastic unit nonetheless.

Here ya go, it says the bluetooth connection failed, because i do not have my phones bluetooth on, otherwise if it was on, when i start the truck it automatically connects

This model has a motorized faceplate that is removeable, so you can set its angle and it remembers that setting, if you have it tilted just right it doesnt glare from the drivers position, but when it is flat the glare is pretty bad where the radio is in these trucks.

I'll revive this in case you were still sitting on this project 7 years later...or for folks who are searching this idea recently like I was. I got the 7600NEX up on my dash with a bullet point mount (bolted into the dash) and some RAM arms. Also a little velcro where the screen touches the dash because it rattles occasionally.
