    Pretty much stock right now
Nice find. My 2.7/autos have had decent get up an go from a stop, while slow up grades in some situations. Mileage wise that's about what I get combined city/highway. I'm no lead foot though. What's it do exactly?

I have the same setup, with 4wd, and my overall average mpg is around 20mpg, and thats with the crappy california gas. Try some injector cleaner.

If the CEL is on, get the code.
Any smoke coming out the exhaust? Get a compression check.
Valves might need adjusting (easy to check, but hard to actually adjust).

Yup, same w/ my dads tacoma, or used to be mine. You'd think the 4 cylinder would get better mpg than the v6 but nah. Its around the same.

You might find yourself getting better performance and fuel mileage with the ECT button left in the PWR position...

It sounds counterintuitive... But I'm a convert...

Your tires look to be similar (in size) to original equipment. Go any larger (tire height/tire weight) and it'll affect performance and mileage. The 2.7's aren't as 'forgiving' as the 3.4's...

    Thanks for the input .
It seems to miss or skip ever so slightly sometimes on acceleration from a dead stop . Plugs ? I am assuming the plugs have never been changed. Ran injector cleaner also. I do not have lead foot , either , did blow the carbon out of it though. Just can' t seem to put my finger on it . No codes , no smoke . I too run with the power button on, it really sucks without it .

Didn't think about the tires . Previous owner had just put new ones on it . P265 /75 R . Tag in door calls for P225 /75 R . Is that difference better or worse for fuel mileage ?

worse really, to get the mpg that was described from the factory you run the factory size tires. Any different size may increase/decrease mpg. Another thing to look at is your complete ignition system and egr.

    Just looking at that .

Plugs and wires. Then my 2.7 got much happier after opening up the exhaust a bit.

Plus larger tires will throw your speedo off - so maybe you weren't even using the actual miles traveled in your equation...
Because the mechanical condition is unknown to you, couldn't hurt to replace the usual suspect; plugs, wires, filters (incl fuel which is a PITA).

You'll find this website to have a very deep wealth of information to draw upon...

Buying a car that old (even though its low miles) I would change and flush everything. You dont know how long that stuff has been in there. For $200 you can do all of this yourself.

    -Plugs
    -PVC Valve
    -Clean MAF
    -Clean TB
    -Air Filter
    -Fuel pump
    -Engine Oil and filter
    -Tranny Oil
    -Differential Oil
    -Brake Fluid
    -Coolant
    -Themostat
    -Hoses and belts
    -Sea Foam

While those things might not address the hesitation issue it will give you a baseline moving forward for other problems.
