Im looking at trading in my lease, I'm a year and a few months in but realizing now I need a double cab, I have an access cab now. The exact one I want is 2.5 hours away, and I contacted them and they're saying that I have to go to them for them to appraise my truck and to calculate how much equity I have in the truck. Any words of advice? Thanks

I wouldn't go into the dealership for an appraisal, unless you really want to be abused.... look up on Kbb for trade in value, taking into consideration your options, mileage and vehicle condition. Get your payoff and subtract, that is how much you will be upside down in your truck. Unless your payoff and value are really close, they are going to hose you, especially if they realize how much you want to change trucks.

Lastly, if your payoff is close to the KBB trade in value, I would look for trucks within distance you would be willing to drive, then try to contact the internet manager and try to come to an agreement. They will all say they have to see your truck, but if it is pristine, reasonable mileage, etc... you should really know where you stand long before you get there. Know how much you are willing to pay, please don't be a payment buyer, they will work the numbers to get the payment you want. Concentrate on the purchase price or if you lease again the capitalization cost. Good luck.

You can always go to Carnac and have them appraise it. If it is good sell it to them and go buy the new one out right. As for me I gave a very honest assessment of my jeep to the toyota dealer over the phone and made him agree to a price before I drove the 2.5 hours to get mine. But every sales manager is different. Good luck.

what you need to know is what is your payoff now because that is the number that matters? If you owe $31k still on lease now and trade is 27k then u are upside down 4k if you get KBB full value. You should be able to get the buyout on your lease if you want to end it now.
