I've been shopping around for a camper shell and I thought I'd update with local prices I got in the Lynnwood/Everett area. I have a Silver '07 DCSB.

A.R.E - Canopy West Truck Accessories - Everett, WA

    CX Series
    $1,595 - Base Price
    $89.95 - Tilt front window
    $199 - Roof Rails only
    $85 - Install
    Free Carpet Headliner
    Free Dome Light
    Total: $1,968.95

    V Series
    $1,395 - Base Price
    $125 - Carpet Headliner
    $89.95 - Tilt front window
    $199 - Rack Rails only
    $85 - Install
    Total: $1,893.95

Leer/Century - Canopy World, Inc. - Edmonds, WA

    100R
    $1,419 - Base Price
$119 - Tilt Sliding Front Window
    $189 - Roof Rails only
    Free Install
    Free Carpet Headliner
    Total: $1,727

    100XR

    $1,599 - Base Price
    Same add-ons as 100R
    Total: $1,907

*Note: I really didn't get a great vibe from the manager and salesperson here.

    Used SnugTop XTR
$1,300. Model has roof-rack built in, front sliding window and headliner already installed.

I'm still waiting on pricing from the official SnugTop dealer and I'll post when it comes in. Is the used XTR a good deal? It's been sitting outside for a few years and doesn't come with install or anything. Do you guys know of any specific issues with SnugTop caps I should look out for in a used model?

Also, what do you guys think about the pricing above for the A.R.E. and Leer options? Is there better pricing somewhere else in the greater Seattle/Tacoma area or is it worth driving down to Portland?

Hopefully this pricing is helpful for any of you wondering what the prices for the main brands and would like a side-by-side comparison of new truck caps in the Seattle area since it's not too transparent online.

I'd have had a canopy a long time ago, except for the prices. I'd love to have a truck vault too, but those prices are even more outrageous.....:(

Got a quote from Portland on the ARE Z series with the following options. A little too steep for me.

    Z Series Truck Cap

    Options
    Trim Option: Trimmed Bottom Edge
Front Cap Option: Sliding Front Window
Side Window: Screen Vent Side Window
    Interior Carpet: Fabric Headliner
Interior Light Option: 12V LED Dome Light & Center Rope Light
    Clothes Rod: Interior Clothes Rod
    Lock System: Keyless Entry

Northwest Auto Accessories, Inc., and I received your inquiry regarding A.R.E.
Thanks for your interest in our premier line of caps and tonneau covers!
The price including the internet coupon for a Z series canopy with the
options that you listed would be $2,464 plus the canopy install kit
($150). It takes approx. 4 weeks to order.

Two years ago I paid around $2200 installed including taxes for my Leer 100XR from canopy world in Des Moines. Add ons we're carpet interior, roof rails, keyless entry, and front removable sliding window which was free with a Leer coupon on their website. I looked around on Craigslist for months and couldn't find a silver long bed cap with similar options for a good price so I bought new. I haven't regretted the purchase.

Found a Leer that was off a 15 Tacoma PreRunner 6 ft bed.... Will that fit my 08 AC 6 ft bed?

I was out the door about $2100 for a LB Snugtop Rebel with tracks, fold down front slider, pet screens, and carpet headliner. Got it from Truck Accessories in Lynnwood.

Fife has a few canopy dealers right off I-5, bought my Leer there many years ago. Kanopy Kingdom I believe.

Anyone having issues of leaking in WA? How did you prep it (at all)?

Haven't had the opportunity for rain yet. I've heard that windows with frames tend to leak more than the recessed one. Some of the SnugTop caps have channels that move water away from the door to prevent intrusion. Also, the A.R.E. CX cap and the SnugTop caps hand over the bed, rather than sit on top.

On the 3rd gen there is a slight gap in the bed near the cab on both sides. I was planning on just filling it with silicone most likely. Curious as to what others have done. Since western WA is so wet in the winter

I bought my Snugtop Rebel (2 windoors, reinforced roof, carpeted, flip down cab window) for ~$2,500 brand new from Truck Builders in Lynwood. I chose the Snugtop since I heard anecdotal opinions that it seemed to be the best for water resistance due to the channels that TJRex mentioned. I bought it in February of this year so I've had half-a-winter experience with it so far, and it's been dry in the bed. I think the light rain that consistently falls here helps unlike a big midwestern thundershower. So far I'm happy with it, particularly the decision to get the windoors on both sides.

    Just my $0.02.

I can tell you as a dealer in the Midwest, this is a great price.
The cap is approx $2000 and the E-lock is another $225 right off.
Slider is about $55 or $75 with tilt down for cleaning option.
Add an additional $150 for the light and clothing hanger.
Add the install and you're pretty close already.
Opinion.... installation is a bit high for me, but overall cost
is inline. Compare it to other companies, the value is clearly there.
The rear window of a Z-series cap has NO hardware or buttons or hinges
showing. Nobody can claim that. Its smooth and very attractive with a very
beefy heavy duty pair of hinges on the inside. Factor it all in and its a great value, good luck!

So I've had some moisture at the hinge of the bed gate on my truck during harder rains. Have you experienced the same? Wondering if there's a solution that's worked for you. I have an '07 DCSB.

    Great thread.

With price increases, I have given up hope for a GFC. I can see value there at $6,450, but it is worth about $5k to me. I am kind of hooked on the side access though and noticed that the Leer 100RCC had nice flip open sides. I asked for a quote from Canopy World in Edmonds for:

    100RCC
    Sliding front window
    No tool boxes
    Thule tracks only
    Matching paint

I was told that was $2,726, which would be just about $3k with tax. Worse, the email they sent had a "save $$ on your canopy" section with coupons that excluded the 100RCC.

AluCabs are only about $500 more than that?

Glad you dig the thread! When I was searching for a cap a few years ago, I felt like pricing for caps was almost as non-transparent as buying a mattress.

    What's a GFC?

Yeah. Googling prices isn't even much help.
