Is the Tacoma 2.7 the same one in the Highlander?

Just asking, I noticed the other day the displacements are the same but curious if it's the same engine. If it is I'm surprised I haven't heard of people discussing that as a major strongpoint of the Highlander...

 

Not really the same, Highlander uses 1AR-FE and Tacoma uses 2TR-FE.

 

Any experience with the difference between the two? Different fuel pumps, etc? I'd imagine they'd anticipate a little bit harder use with the 2TR-FE.

No , completely different engines other than displacement . one is transversely mounted for front wheel drive. Other is mounted for rear wheel drive. Highlander 2.7 is all aluminum. The Tacoma 2.7 is iron. And the differences go on and on
