I have a 2015 2d tacoma I bought at a carmax. This is the first truck I've owned and am loving it. However, I don't so much care for how low to the ground it is. Let me start by saying, this a purely cosmetic question, with a little bit of practicality. Can someone point me in the right direction. I like the skinny tall tire look and I want to be off the ground.

Looking to do this for $1500

Just driving to and from work and the occasional scrap yard

I may catch some slack for being a cheap wad but I did everything to mine for right at $1200
*eBay lift: Supreme Suspension 3"front/2"rear $180
    *2013 TRD Sport Wheels: $300
*eBay spacers: 1.25" hub centric billets w/lugnuts $70
*Tire rack.com tires: 255-75-17 (32-10-17) Kuhmo Road Venture AT $640
    *Mount/Balance: $45
I only recommend this setup because you say you don't off-road. The issue with these types of lifts without purchasing aftermarket upper control arms is when the suspension is at its max lowest point, the upper control arm contacts the strut spring.
With that said, I love my kit. It handles dirt roads well and I probably put 10,000 miles on it so far. Just an option for ya.IMG_20170413_135523690.jpg IMG_20170601_120503319.jpg

Guys, thank you! Rusty that might be a good option for me (thanks for taking the time). I've added a picture at the top. Any other words of wisdom? Are there any reasonable wheels/tires that are taller than the TRD

Ok guys, the OP has a 5 lug. Different suspension, different options. Fewer. Much fewer.

On the wheels you have, 235x75 will fit, clear everything with no rubbing, and give you 1" of lift. Doesn't sound like much, but you'll notice it getting in and out.

If you put any more tire on it that that, you'll hate the sluggishness it develops. We have modest rear gear ratios, and you are making it even lower numerically with the taller tire.

We have a 5 lug forum, which is where you'll see more options. Don't be so enamored with the lift 'looks' that you screw up your ride/handling. Just proceed with caution.

Here is mine with a set of 'spare tire' wheels which replaced the ones you have. Same size/offset, just a different look, allowing me to add the trim rings for a bit of old school flare.

How hard was it to install? I have stock wheels and want to just add height as simply as possible

You can put some better looking wheels and tires on it without lifting it, since you say you're going only for looks.

Never understood why they make trucks so low like that.

If Carmax has a return policy, return it and get find another Tacoma. Not trying to be a dick, but you'll be dollars to donuts ahead

Why? It's a commuter with light hauling duty. Perfect truck for that.

Yep. That's it. The instructions said to take lower ball joint loose and loosen lower control arm bolts so you can swing it down. Once all that's done it's a breeze as far as installing everything. Hardly changed the ride at all.
Only thing I didn't realize is I have a larger spring pack since spring recall so my rear is still higher than the front...

You bought what you bought. Leave it as is or trade for something else. You can spend $1500 on the truck and you'll not only lose the $1500 at trade time, but the truck will be worth more without the modifications. A lose/lose situation.

You need another lug nut...I don't think you will ever get much tire or lift with that model

Because Toyota made the Prerunner for people that wanted the lifted look with 2WD. The OP should enjoy it for what it is or find something else
