Going to try and build a bed rack out of T slot framing from the company 80/20, it is aluminum, however this rack shouldn't ever be supporting a tent or anything like that (kayak or full ice chest at most). I'd use steel but I am no welder that's for sure. T slot framing should be easy to assemble and customize.

Here is what I'm using https://8020.net/1515-lite.html

Thoughts? An aluminum bedrack is that just a bad idea or am I crazy? Any input would be very much appreciated. Thanks

That looks rather pricey. I would learn to weld and use steel.

It could end up looking pretty good, tho.

Yes I just got to pricing steel tubing I think I'll go that way instead. Looks like once I have materials and paying someone to weld it, it'd still be cheaper.

I was going to suggest having someone build you one.

At $0.45 per inch that would have been real expensive fast
