What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I just used an old scrap 2x4 and a couple of Harbor Freight punches. Drilled some strategically placed holes in it, and it was good to go.

A couple days ago I got my windows re tinted. Noticeably cooler and nicer to be in now. Now just need to ditch the reflective bronze rear glass...

 

So here is something for all the TRD supercharger guys to think about doing sooner or later.

So I changed my 1st gen TRD superchargers oil today after it was rebuilt 35,000 miles ago.
You can change it by just taking the nose off and have a bag under the rear seams of the nose to catch the oil, you don't need to remove the supercharger.
TRD says to change the oil at 100,000 miles which I have been doing.
Well guess what, my oil looks like it has 200,000 miles,
It's total black and filthy looking, wow I wonder why the bearing go out at 100,000 miles or so on the Trd superchargers. I put a butt screw in the top of the nose cone so now I can change the oil in 5 minutes with a oil Syringe sucking the oil out and then just adding oil, I'm thinking the oil might need
to be replaced every 25,000 miles if it gets this dirty this fast,
maybe this is from heat, not sure,
Well got it all cleaned with carb cleaner spray getting all the corners and put back together, ready to go exploring!
If you have a trd supercharger you guys might want to do a deep cleaning sooner than later.
By the way I highly recommend a methonal injection kit, I installed a snow performance system and now can run a 2" pulley with zero ping issues

I was inspired by your idea to make the sst tool that I'd need since the engine is basically a long block. I'll post a pic if it works later.

 

Nice. I'll probably do something like that next time when the engine is in the truck. My engine is a long block on a "stand" right now so I have to try something else.

 

Haven't read far enough to see what others have said but I've had that same problem with Sams before too. I bought the tires from them but they wouldn't install them so I loaded them up and went elsewhere

 

Any good ideas for getting the crankshaft pulley off? The bolt is out and I've doused it with penetrating fluid, hit it with my plastic mallet, but it's not budging?

Is there a special puller tool I can use for it that has the thread of the crankshaft bolt?

Edit: got it off with an 8" 3 jaw puller from Harbor Freight.

 

Just installed the Toytec Ultimate lift with Bilstein coilovers & shocks along with Dakar spring pack, SPC UCA's and new BFG KO2 265/75/16 tires.

Rides as smooth as a brand new 1972 Ford LTD!

 

Didn't even know that was a thing. The forethought is appreciated though. I'd imagine without that application, the rockers would not be rocking so hard these days.
