at times I'd like to leave my drivers door open with the key in the ignition, but the chimes drive me crazy. On other cars I've had, there was a pushbutton in the door frame, which could be pushed in and latched on a notch so it would stay pressed until the next time the door is closed.

but, on the taco, I don't see any such switch. how does the car know the door is open ?

Rubber boot covered switch near the door striker on the access door.

ah, duh, so obvious I missed it. I was looking in the door frame by the hinges :p

k, that should be pretty easy to hook up to a disable switch.

Keep in mind, with a disable switch, it will be possible to lock the doors with the key in the ignition. Cheap metal key in a hide a key box to the rescue.

since I only ever lock the doors with the key fob remote, that would be a pretty good trick :p
