Planing on taking the family and checking it out. Would like to camp / park as close to the water as possible. Any one have input on what side of the lake? Also be doing evening fishing for cats.

I can't recall exactly where but I've been camping at Lake isabella where you can camp near the water and the campsite is a short drive in the same area ( you don't need to go back onto the main road ). It's a dirt road and you can drive around and find your own area to stay. It was close enough to walk back and forth from the water where you camp but it's nice having the option to drive because we launched our jet skis there as well as bringing all the stuff in the car. SORRY I can't remember where because it was way back when I was a kid but I hope maybe this info will help you in some way find what you are looking for. If I remember correctly when you come from OC/LA area it's going to be on the left side of the lake.. VERY VAGUE BUT IM TRYING MY BEST GOODLUCK

Had a blast. My 3yr old daughter loved it and she caught her first fish. Now she wants to go camping and fishing more often. Music to my ears.

That's awesome! I was thinking about heading there this weekend. How were the temps? Was it windy? Thinking about bringing my kayak along.

14mph winds on Saturday. Sunday morning was much better and the bite was on for cats. Past 10am the heat was on.
