Anyway to bring these back? Really aren't that old, maybe 1.5-2 years old. Sandpaper? Some sort of polish? They are Method NV aluminum wheels. Thanks guysIMG_0196.jpg IMG_0197.jpg

You could always paint them - here's a few sets I've done.

Contact method, those are pretty bad. If not get them powder coated

Didn't even think about contacting them about it! I will give them a call tomorrow to see if they can do anything... I didn't think they'd be this bad after such a short amount of time. If they say they cannot do anything, what is the best method of trying to restore them before I just powder coat them?

Powder coat would definitely be the best, but they would need to have the tires removed.

If you want to do it yourself:
use some paint stripper and remove all of the clear coat
scuff with scotch brite to get them an even dull
    prime with an etching primer
coat with paint of choice, I used rustoleum wheel paint with good results before

If you want them re-cleared, then you should have a shop spray them (unless you have that kind of setup). I have never had good success clear coating aluminum since nothing sticks to it that well.

Sandblast & powdercoat? My guess is method will take care of you in some capacity though. Good company.

I'm running Method Mesh wheels and on the first set I had I noticed they were really difficult to clean and stained really easily. It appeared that they were never sealed from the factory. I contacted method, they asked for a few pictures and they took care of it.

Here is a good video for painting aluminum that follows Noah's advice:

X-2 Appears you may have underlying issues under the bead-locks as well...

If you off road I'd just paint them and be done with it - powder coat looks awesome, but rocks don't care what you have covering your wheels. Touch up your wheels no problem if you paint them.

Probably a dumb question - but that has never stopped me before.

What the heck happened to them? And how do I prevent the new Method wheels I'm thinking of buying from doing the same thing?

I'm beginning to see why people use stock steel wheels when off road. Makes sense.

If you're going to have two sets for on and off-road use get some steel wheels for off-roading. You can pound them back into shape if you dent one.

Ive had three sets of methods on separate vehicles and never had the issue though, just seems like an isolated incident to me.
