    UPDATE 09/15/2018:
We are proud to announce that we have working models of our Inline OEM Microphone Adapter and are currently looking for 3 beta testers! If you are interested in being a beta tester please see this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/oem-inline-microphone-adapter-for-use-with-aftermarket-head-units-testers-wanted.568415/#post-18712375

UPDATE 05/30/2018: We have built a second batch of microphones! If anyone is interested in purchasing one, please send me a PM.

    UPDATE 01/02/2018:
The first batch of drop in microphone replacements have been made and are ready for purchase. We are selling them for $32.99 + shipping. These microphones have a 3.5mm connector and comes with a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter so it should work with most aftermarket head units. Please PM me if you are interested!

ORIGINAL POST: I just replaced the head unit on my 2013 Tacoma and didn't want to mount the microphone somewhere that I would see it. Some buddies and I pieced together a factory sized mic drop in that works and sounds great. Basically you would have to remove the OEM microphone and drop this microphone in it's place and then run an included aux cable to the head unit. We would have a 2.5mm and 3.5mm version.

Could this be retrofit into a Tacoma that didn't come with Bluetooth, but has an aftermarket head unit installed? If so, I'd be very interested as well.

Initially we will be selling just the drop in Mic with wires. However, we will be looking into a retrofit solution for the non oem Bluetooth guys and gals. If anyone has a non Bluetooth overhead console they are selling for cheap, we would be interested in buying it for prototyping.

Between the map lights. On some models, that square piece has a cut out for the mic.

Hello all, sorry for the radio silence! This semester at university has been rough and we were waiting on parts. But the parts came in and I got together with the guys yesterday and we made an updated prototype and did some testing. We have a couple changes we want to make to the housing and we need to find 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapters (because some head units require 3.5mm Mics and some take 2.5mm). I will update this post with pictures of the newest prototype. Theproject is for sure happening though, thanks for your patience!

Update: For those of you interested in a retrofit solution, how many of you have tan plastic interior? Does anyone know of a Tacoma that has a tan interior + factory Bluetooth mic?
