I had a flight yesterday to what seemed like a random location, at least to me. Turns out I was in the middle of national news in Charlottesville, Virginia. I landed about an hour after the chaos broke out. About 50 state police stayed at my hotel.

Weather made a for a pretty photo though!

Drop a couple of those zeros and I'll make a deal!

Looks like a fun plane though.

Haha... I told the boss I'd buy one of them for 5k... all he said was "noted..."

Both good planes... 78W has a lower time motor (150 SMOH) and the interior is nicer... that's the one I'd take :)

I have a question for the aviators out there. Myself as a controller have noticed when the temperature is above 32C or DA above 2500 jets won't fly to the airport I work at mostly training, approaches an pattern work is what they do. Why is that? Asked co-workers they are dumb founded as well.

Hazarding a guess...temperature affects air density. Hotter air, less density. Some airframes are grounded at high temps because they can't make takeoff speed.

They might also not be air conditioned, and it could be simply too freaking hot to stand being in.

I understand the hot air but it's the AF they have a/c I was told but the flight schools planes fly nonstop they don't have a/c but they are all prop not jet. Even the helicopters beat the pattern up ALL day long.

It's usually 42C here in the summer with DA's in the 5-7k ft area and the f16s, f35s and a10s still fly all day long... as I'm typing this I can hear f16s doing overheads (my office is on the approach end of a crosswind runway at TUS, so I "enjoy" the sound of freedom all day long)

AT-6 Texan II? That's a pretty low temp to affect lift (I'd expect that around 40C and above).

Maybe they aren't air conditioned after all...

Weird maybe it's a base policy not sure I'll have to ask one of them one day.
