Frame Replaced - Dealership Photos of Process...

The lead mechanic took photos of the rusted frame
replacement project of my 2002 Tacoma.

    Here are my before photos...

And here are the dealership photos...

They told me the bill came in just under $15,000.00
Soooooooo happy I didn't pay a penny of that. I
got a LOT of new stuff with this deal.

My family has out grown this truck. It is a 2002,
auto trans, AC, 4 cyl, just turned 91,000 miles.

What do you think shes worth?

Looks like they did a nice job on that. I really don't know what it's worth, but with the documentation you've got you should have no problem selling it. Good looking truck!

It'd be cool if they gave you the option of replacing the frame or giving you the cost of replacing the frame if you purchase new vehicle from them.

wow it never really dawned on me how involved this project is. thats awesome.

for other people doing mods, that would be an ideal time to do mods like lifting, suspension, exhaust ect.

Looks like a stand-up dealership...you buying another Toyota when you sell your '02? A thought...for S's and G's, see what that dealership is willing to give for the '02...maybe trade the taco and take advantage of Toyota's sick 0% financing offer. But probably get more $ for the taco via private sale.

No, believe it or not the rest of the truck was
    very clean & rust free.

If they gave me a 15K credit, I might have very
    well bought a new one - but they didn't, so I didn't!

The dealership said they would have even installed
my customer provided parts at the time of the swap
    at no cost.

I figured I’d do better with a private sale as well.
I already bought my replacement car – a Ford
Police Interceptor, big, roomy, fast & fun!

Not many of you are telling me what you think
my Tacoma might be worth. I was thinking of
asking $7,850 – is that too high, too low or just
    right?

That's a detailed process. I really think that it's good that they did the work, but I'd like to see the costs from Toyota's perspective.

Amazing how imaculately clean that dealer is. Good for them!

In that very last picture - did someone try to weld the old frame together?

i think 7850 is too low with what works been done to it. not sure what to ask but if you do decide to sell it give me a call i'll give you that in a heartbeat lol.
    beautiful truck man.

No, they cut the rear of the frame off for
me so I can remove the welded trailer
hitch. This is the only thing I wasn't happy
with. I felt Toyota should have replaced /
repaired the trailer hitch. So I get to
    reinstall it

    Hmmm, if I don't get a better offer.........start gett'en
    your cash together :D

The free use of the 2010 Corolla was nice, I put 450
miles on it. But I honestly prefer my 2003
    Hyundai Elantra.

wow thats awesome. if i were u, id def be going back to them for business and a next vehicle. If you are in the market for a yota of course.

and about the hitch... id just be happy you got it back. they gave u enough offers and good deals (IMHO) with the frame replacement, taking all the pics, removing the hitch for u, and offering to inatall any parts free of charge (if you had any).

i think you did well. besides, it doesnt take a whole lot to grind off and/or drill out the welds

Your truck sure looks good and clean. You have taken good care of it. Luckily my 2002 has lived in Florida so no frame rust.
I'm surprised that Toyota would replace the frame if it costs $15,000 to do the job. Seems like that they should have offered the 1.5 time KBB for all the rusted out frame trucks.

Toyota only did the buy-back on the 1995 - 2000
Tacoma's because they didn't have the replacement
frames. They have the replacement frames for the 2001-
    2004 Tacoma's.

I asked Toyota to buy my truck back, it would have
been a lot cheaper for them. Toyota really doesn't
want to destroy any more cars than it has to (thats
what they do to the buy-backs).

I'm reinstalling the hitch this weekend & then she'll
be up for sale next week - for $7,850. Someone
is gonna get a nice deal on a great little truck :)

Good luck on the sale. She should go quick. I've been looking for a first gen 4x4 and the nice ones are priced way up there with double your mileage. My 2002 is at 90k miles also.
