2016 Side Bed Rail's are Torqued?

    Hi guys,

    I just got my 3rd bed rail in for up against the cab and was going to put it on and i was wondering if anyone knew if there was a torque spec on the side rail bolts, the 5 torx bolts?

    I would just go with make sure they are "good and tight" spec. It likely doesn't require something so specific.

    I am sure there is a spec if anyone chimes in but I wouldn't get to worried about them not being exact.

    I read 66.5 in-lb (about 5.5 ft-lb) on an Amazon.com product description or review once. It was for after-market installation of bed rails. Seems right, they're not very beefy. Let me know if you find out different!

    I can appreciate everyone wanting to do things right and whatnot, but you don't really need to torque every bolt to spec. I'd just tighten them up. Just a little past snug. Probably not even a half turn past snug.

    Thanks Woodrow, point taken. What got me thinking about torquing it is, I purchased the Trac One rack system, and I learned after the fact that I need special clamps for the Tacoma, and separate special clamps for the 2016-17 Taco bed. These clamps leverage the factory bed rail system. Not sure how much I like the whole design, but I'm going to roll with it. Supposedly the Trac One can hold 800 lbs.

    The hard ware is just going to hold the track in place. Most of the support is just going to be from the rails sitting on the bed. 800lbs? I'd think that would try really hard to push your bed rails out. I might would add a bed stiffener....... that might also just be a static rating..... what about when the truck is moving?

    The bolts do strip easy so take it easy when you do. I had to replace two of them
