image.jpg Last week while at work my Tacoma was backed into. Parked in a driveway (I work in home healthcare) my patient's son had about 15ft of distance between his SUV and my truck. He said he simply didn't see me. This is the second time I'm replacing my bumper after being backed into, for this same reason. Is this a case of hard luck?

Not sure if anyone has dealt with something similar or not. So any ideas of options on being seen? You know, other than painting my truck bring orange.

Thinking about a lift. I have a 5 lug so my options are limited but am really tired of replacing my grille and bumper.

That's juts some careless driving and bad luck. You don't need to make an excuse to get a lift, man. If you want a lift, get one. I don't think it's going to keep bad drivers from hitting you.

there isnt much you can do. When I had my Turbo Porsche I would park in the far corner away from everything/everyone and still some ass would pull up as close as possible on the DS so that I had to climb over the passenger seat to get in. I always kept a tire valve core removal tool in the Porsche... back up, and take the valve cores out of their 4 tires and drive off with them. It got to the point where I had to sell her because of all of the ass's out there. I feel your pain.

Your truck is bigger than a child. Which the numbskull would have backed over too.

You can't fix stupid, and it's not your responsibility to try.

Fortunately you know who and when, so it's getting fixed on his nickel. Right?

I was backed into, mind you I have the 4x4 and sit higher, in an Advance Auto parking lot the year after I bought it ('05). Some kid in a friend's S-10 backed straight up but never turned. and those spaces are further apart than normal.

BTW, New Smyrna is awesome, was there last summer on the beach :D

Right. $1300 and $1200 quoted by local body shops, he's writing the check. First time this happened a year ago the construction company responsible paid $1100.

Not much you can do .

You could park in the middle of a yard and someone would hit your vehicle .

In this day maybe a motion sensor alarm installed on the front of your vehicle it might be a pain to get dialed in but the sound of one of those loud back up alarms should get most peoples attention

Yeah seriously. My truck is lifted and both my bumpers are dinged from people hitting me. On top of that some lifted bro truck (had to have been because it was tall enough for the door to open over my sliders instead of hitting them) swung their door into mine and fucked up the paint.

    "I didn't see it."

    Roughly translates to:

    "I wasn't looking."

My mom used to say that the reason people always cut us off driving our sky blue vanagon was because it blended into the sky. I think people are just stupid and don't look. I mean, people "don't see" 18 wheelers, and even buildings, lol...

Exactly. Enjoy your new bumper, or just take the money and run and keep the dented bumper.

Lift will just make them hit you in a different place. Depending on their weapon of choice, that could be good or bad.

Armor is a reasonable choice for these low speed whacks, but a high speed hit will create more underlying damage, 'cause it won't crumple like your OE bumper, so the energy transfers to the mounting points. Plus you have wt you don't need and a resulting MPG/suspension hit.

Our 5 lugs are wonderful creatures, regardless of what the 6 lug crowd thinks. If it serves your purpose, just keep it as is..............

I 'lifted' mine 1" with taller tires on OE wheels. :D

But lift won't help backers see you. They still have to look, not mess with their bluetooth and tunes.

Thats what I did when this cranky bitty from phx here on the wknd was on her cell looked at me and then backed into me. was crazy like she was daring me to not move. car in front of me so I couldnt move and watched yelling out my window as she back into my truck. Then she gets out, still on the phone and says I hit her.... took everything I had not to smash her face with her phone. Told her I was calling the police and she says dont bother they wont come because we are on private property. says I think we should go since her car had damage as well. I sat for moment took a step in her direction as I was going inside to ver the gas station had video. she ran into her car and was screaming dont hit me. everyone was staring at me like I was to blame and now going to attack her. I call police they say they wont come on private property, I tell them my neck hurts and they say they are on there way. I hate to use resources like that but they would not have come and this crazy would have prob ran on me.

I've found that 2/3 of the way out is the sweetspot. Parking all the way at the end of the lot gets you unwanted attention from people who hate other people's nice stuff, and every fatass in America wants the close spot.

2/3 is the "apathy" zone where nobody seems to notice.
