Neat Gas Pump Trick (UPDATED 3/18/18)

If you're anything like me and hate having advertisements shoved in your face, here's a trick for these modern video gas pumps that shout at you the whole time you're pumping gas:

Double-tap the second button from the top right corner, and you can pump your gas quietly.

UPDATE: I am seeing some pumps that require only one tap of the button now.


I don't know who the ass-hats are on the screen and I didn't ask for them to yell at me first thing in the morning. Their expressions say "I don't know dick about Tacomaworld" so I don't care what they have to say.

yo what haha we must not have this in Canada. ads on gas pumps, what a time to be alive.

 

You must live in a extremely quiet area if those gas pumps are that loud it bothers you . I've got the same pumps here and with the busy street its on and the freeway maybe a 1/4 mile away you can barely hear that video monitor on the pump

 

Annoying as crap. Makes me want to wear earplugs

 

There's a reason I don't live in the city.

 

Id rather have my ears working to hear anyone around me.

Situational awareness

 

Suburb on the edge of town. Our neighborhood station is on the outer edge by the 4-way highway that connects to the interstate 26 miles away. There's a good bit of morning commute traffic, but nothing like bigger cities have.

 

This all day. I think I'm always more alert at the gas pumps. I always put the parking brake on and never lift a hand from my truck. In case someone jumps in, I can swiftly hop in the bed. Nobody's driving off with my kids.

 

UPDATE: It seems some pumps I am interacting with only require a single tap on the same button to mute the noise.

 

I tried it at an Exxon where I fuel my truck and it works like a champ. However there’s another station I go to for work several times a week and they put a new system in and they can’t be muted and of course they have them 5 levels beyond blaring
