    Hi all,

I ordered Bilstein 33-247717 dampers for my 01 Tacoma Excab SR5 4x4 to install along with new leaf springs. My understanding is that I need to raise the back of the truck 1-1.5" for these, and so I ordered RoughCountry shackles also which I was told would achieve that.

    Link to the dampers:
Amazon.com: Bilstein 33-247717 Shock Absorber: Automotive

My dad took the truck to a leaf spring specialist this morning, and they installed the dampers without the shackles. The truck handles great, and looks a little taller in the back to me, but I can see that the same (I presume OEM) shackles are still in place with the all new leaf springs.

Im I going to damage something if I drive the truck without the new shackles? Could they have installed springs that would make the new dampers compatible?
    What should I do?

I'm not positive but im pretty sure you can run 5100s with stock lift in the rear. the only way to tell would be to compress the suspension fully and see if the shocks bottom before you hit your bumps stops. Or just check the collapsed length of your 5100s and compare that to your old shocks.
