It's a redundant setup. Your converting DC voltage (battery) to a AC voltage steuped up to 120VAC at 60 hertz (Inverter). Then connecting a welder that is stepping down the 120VAC to 25VAC and then rectified back to DC voltage at 25VDC so you can weld.

If you want to have welding capabilities on the trail, then run directly off the battery and avoid all the loss due to thermal dynamics. You would need two batteries in series to have 24VDC, this will get you up to 250 amps of output. I carry the readywelder.

What's a good portable air compressor that you guys run? I'm not looking for one that needs to air up 37" tires (Right now I am running stock, I might move up to 285/70/17). Looking for one that is of great value. Don't need the best one, just need one that works.

Viar 0088 (I think). You can find it on Amazon.

Thanks for the info! So I have a triple-battery setup in my Tundra. The 2 auxiliary batteries (Odyssey PC1500) are wired in parallel as one and are mounted in the bed. If I ran a welder directly off of that, I'd get roughly a few minutes of total weld time in?

You should be about to get 20 minutes before you will need to recharge the battery. Enough time to fix a link or a mount.

That looks familiar. A guy I wheeled with aired up with one of those and it seemed to out perform mine: https://www.amazon.com/Master-Flow-...id=1502831798&sr=1-33&keywords=air+compressor

I'm leaning towards onboard air but may just get a better portable one later.

In other news...I know it's a long shot but does anyone on here have hookups for OEM Honda parts??? I don't frequent the Honda forums as much, if at all, anymore.

Yeah like he said it gets a little slippery on the blue groove stuff and get real soupy if the water guys are having a spray off contest! But the vet track it real easy and fun, the main track it pretty fun too as long as you can clear all the jumps and dont have any mud bog spots.
Cahuilla is probably the funnest track around here IMO, its more off-roady than a standard track.

Looks like Dave answered your question. In a pinch you can use 2 batteries, jumper cables and a a stick of welding rod (Arc welding) if you need to stick metal together!

I'd really like to check out Cahuilla sometime! I've heard nothing but good things about that track.
I was done just as the water truck was pulling out onto the track at 1. Fortunately it stayed overcast most the day keeping the dust down...for the most part. I warmed up on what I guess is the vet track and moved over to the main track. There's a big double I didn't have the cajones to try today, there was one guy there jumping it but by the time he started riding my hands were about shot and I'd rather not risk it. Still had a great time and did the rest of the jumps which were a blast! They have more of a kicker lip than I'm used too, but was a great time finally getting on my bike! Pictures to come later.

I have this one VIAIR 400P-Automatic Function Portable Compressor

If you watch it, the price will fluctuate. I picked it up for $130 on Amazon. I plan on adding a tank later on and this one will work well for that set up. Takes ~2 minutes per tire going from 18-36 psi on my 285's

    Yesterday..

Mounted the brackets for my water system in the spare tire area. They're 1/4" thick angled bars and bolted together using grade 9 hardware (front part of bracket reuses two of the tow receiver's bolts). The picture only shows one tank held in place for mock but there will be two of the same tank there once done. They're each 12 gallons of water that my pump will pull from. I still have to make a skid plate for the bottom of the water tanks and add supports to the long bolts to brace the skid when it smashes on rocks.
