I always said Toyota really "dropped a deuce" when they rolled out the 2nd gen....

I guess Turd Gen is just payback.

I just dont get how this is news to some people. 99.9% of 1st year new generation autos have some sort of issue (some detrimental, some not) and they just get ironed out usually by the first year or two as its naturally cyclical. This doesnt necessarily mean anything for the 8-10 years later the auto is in production for that generation. Dont want issues and want a safer bet? Wait a couple years. It's not that hard of a concept to understand.

Also allows for more experience in what to expect because people are no longer comparing to the previous generation, only previous years to the same generation.

You mean things arent always 100% perfect with a 0% failure rate of components? Get the fuck out of here with your logical thought processes.

I know one thing for sure and I learned it the hard way. Never, ever buy a vehicle in its new model year. Ever. I was foolish to do it once... Never again.

Yep, apparently service and parts departments are really necessary in some cases. Gotta have a reason to hang out and drink coffee and eat all the donuts, sitting around watching them sell trucks every hour doesn't cut it anymore.

1st year of a generation (being the worst) argument has been shot to hell many times over. Look at the 2009 Tacoma for proof and pudding. I expected better from uber reliable toyota

Whoa Smitty, you were almost a White Knight in training :D

Surprising how the things that you were pleased with initially have turned out to be the biggest problem areas.

Sorry man but you got a first thing Monday morning or last one Friday night truck.

I think he's pointing out that the 2009 was problematic despite having had several years to iron out teething problems.

Is he referring to that model year because it had a lot of customer complaints?
What did they put in the 2009 model that made it less reliable than the 2005-2008 models?
Did they put Bluetooth in it and everyone was complaining that their smartphones weren't connecting.

I have a 2017 TRD I bought a month ago and so far it's a good one. If I went by what I read on here I would be constantly taking my truck back to the dealer. I have not been on this forum very long but I have already noticed that there a few trolls who can't wait to slam the new Tacoma and talk negative. They must not have anything to do in life but stay on here and complain. My question is if you hate them so much why do you still have one?? This is my fourth Tacoma and so far the best- time will tell the real story.
