Earlier this month, I reluctantly said goodbye to my trusty 1986 4Runner after 2 years and 35,000 miles of good times. Owning a first gen had been on my bucket list forever, and it was everything I could have asked for and more. The new owner had one back in the day and was excited to have a weekend rig to bomb around in with his kids, so I hope it lives a happy retirement with its new family.

About a week after the 4Runner left on a truck for the east coast, I picked up my new 2017 Tacoma.

I wasn't able to get my ideal truck locally, but lucked out and found one in Ohio in the right spec: TRD Off-Road, Inferno, manual trans, no bolt-ons.

Looking forward to enjoying the new truck for many years and miles!

Thanks Scott, I certainly lost some sleep over it - but considering the '86 was the newest of my vehicles and the Tacoma is the first with more than 2 doors, I haven't regretted my decision so far!
