I'm really thinking of going with the RAY10's. I just spent a few minutes mocking up what they would look like on Dante the Tacoma (matte gunmetal).

Looks good man, I have my eyes on the same wheels!

Considering that Ray10s are the only wheel that are out of stock in all types...I say get the SR8 so that I have less competition to get the ray 10s!

I give up on both as it seems near impossible to buy either due to the demand of SCS wheels. This was my 2nd attempt at buying which ever were available and they're sold out in under 5 minutes

I would say just wait man, I think it will be right at a year that the ray10s have been out come August. Just keep trying, I know they plan for another shipment mid June and hopefully late July. From what I understand, this is how it was with all their previous wheels...just takes time to get the crowd to have them.

Gentleman.. Just bought a 2017 Tacoma Double Cab TRD Off Road; has 16 in wheels with the Wrangler Adventures. What's the perk of new wheels? Weight/width and strength (appearance obviously)? Also.. Stay with 16's or go to 17's? Stay with 265's or go to 285's and a lift? I used to have an FJ that I did my own body mount chop, 285's and a 3" Icon lift. I kinda wanted to do a lift on this but I've heard that the 10 ply KO2's for example in 285 set off some kind of ABS issue. Any intel from you guys on this?

What's the perk of new wheels?

The primary reasons I see people upgrading their wheels are for
    1. Cosmetics - New wheels changes the whole look of the truck
    2. Lower backspacing - Wider tires need to be pushed away from the upper control arm to prevent rubbing
    3. (rarely) Lighter Weight - Some wheels are a little bit lighter than stock. I've never seen this as a primary reason, but it's a nice bi-factor.
Stay with 16's or go to 17's?

Between 16s and 17s is a personal preference. Theoretically they both have benefits, but with only being a 1" difference, I find that difference to be negligible.

Stay with 265's or go to 285's and a lift?

That's also a personal choice. If it were me, I'd do lift with 285s. You've got to ask yourself if that's what you really want. A lift and heavier tires is awesome for off roading and cool factor, but the trade off is potentially decreased mileage, rougher ride, increased wear on parts, etc. A stock Tacoma with some aggressive 265s will still get you to a lot of places.

I've heard that the 10 ply KO2's for example in 285 set off some kind of ABS issue.

I've never heard of this happening, but that's not to say it's happened before. I do know that a lot of people run load E tires on their 3rd gens and have no problems.

All great info here. I have the 285/70/17 E load Ko2, jumped right up from the factory 245s (prerunner) with no issues yet. (Knock on wood) I definitely had to get them road force balanced though, I hear of many people have balancing "issues" with KO2s.

Depends what you are going for. I think the Ray 10 looks better if your set up is more off-road/desert racing type.

The sr8 will go well for a more sporty look. Just my opinion. But honestly, can't go wrong with either. SCS wheels are hub centric, affordable, and high quality. I have the SCS F5 but will sell soon for some SR8.

Not the best due to lighting but I went with ray10 and they look great. Matte Bronze goes awesome with the MGM. I got mine with all black (no silver bolts). They look killer when clean/in good lighting.

went back and forth on grey or other colors. Originally the brushed copper was what hooked me but went a different route.

I just asked for them to be black so they came that way. If you take them out and blast them with a satin rattle can they willl be golden. I need to do that with the spare. Vin and team are too backed up to do it. He mentioned they did it at the shop.
