Number 1 reason for purchase

A good size for an off-road pick-up in BC. The full size simply don't fit the FSRs where I live, and I just can't do a GM. Also fuel economy has been good, which I appreciate.

Good looking trucks as well. Helps me look past the odd wart.

 

I wanted a manual transmission again.

 

My brother had one like it.

 

Could've supported my own paycheck and got a Ridgeline, but I doubt their forums are as fun as this one.

 

I wanted it to stop spending money on maintenance for two vehicles so I combined them. i.e. 2017 Tacoma. Replaces the utility of my 97 tacoma (bed/truck stuff) and the people capacity/4wd of my WRX, all while getting less looks from cops and vapers alike.

 

Mostly this. I was taking side cash jobs after work last summer and my '15 coupe Civic Si wasn't exactly ideal for moving my floor jack and other tools. It also wasn't ideal to get to some of the job sites in the rural countryside areas.
Around the same time I was putting together a rebuilt 22re engine at work on a Toyota Pickup and just fell in love with the engineering design and reliability. So naturally Toyota got the first long hard look. After some web browsing I came across this site and saw the Quicksand thread, that's when I knew what I wanted.

First one had 286,000 miles

Last one had 251,000 miles

And 3 more in between with less miles.

 

wanted something to get off road, but wife put kabosh on it since we only put about 5-7k miles a year on our other vehicle since we moved. I talked wife into a truck by saying we could use it to haul home improvement materials.

We've had it 13 months now, and we've now put 10k+ on it because she keeps wanting to go on trips to get to trails. go figure.

 

The lack of a dipstick for the tranny... that means I do not have to ever check the level as it's "set at the factory" and will always be at the perfect level..!!

 

Because I'm old and I wanted it!!!
Wanted a new truck but didn't want payments so I bought upgrades to make it look Tacomacool.

 

Utility & reliability, when it positively, absolutely has to work. I am handicapped and have to make a 525mi. round trip once a month.

 

Isn't it great....US old guys can do whatever the F we want...and get away with it....!!

 

Almost 800,000 miles on three previous Tacomas never was without my truck for a whole day until..... a jail inmate driving a city truck did $3,000 worth of damage to a 1994 pickup! I didn't even look at anything else. Almost 24,000 miles on this BBP. I love it!

 

Time to retire my 15 year old car and wanted a 4x4 truck. I put in a build quote to both Nissan and toyota after he hawing around with both dealers totota finally gave me a price. Nissan never gave me a price. I could have went eithor way but Nissan sales staff screwed their own employers. So I went toyota. Ford ,chevy and dodge were not considered at all.

 

It sure is!!! I just have to pick which hobby I have to spend the money I shouldn't spend on. Archery,guns, ammunition collection, Truck. This month was truck and gun.

 

High mileage and reliability seem to be a common theme!

I have wanted a Toyota pickup since seeing the "Back to the Future truck".
