Honesty I don't see the weight difference being a lot. It's just 1" square tube frame and then I'll skin it with like 1/4" plywood for looks and then 3/4" ply topper. It'll probably be the same amount of weight as full wooden cabinets. The trailer feels super light behind the truck when it's empty.

Don't know man. Been sooooooooooooo busy with work lately that I just can't seem to find time to work on it. If I needed to take it camping right now I could. It's just not dialed in all the way how I want it to be yet. It can still carry all my gear, I can sleep in it, and it can run my fridge and electronics. I just want to have a place for everything and stuff you know?

that is good to know. I think i like the size of your trailer, and the windows are sweet, but i would like to have one with a ramp rear door.

Thanks man. Yeah my wife and I got into a 5x8 that I originally wanted but it was way too small for me, her, my daughter and our dog! So we got in a 5x10 and even that felt kinda small. The 6x10 was perfect on the inside. I'm 6'2" and the roof of mine is about 5'8" on the interior. I have duck down a little but it's totally fine for me! Not like it's really big enough to walk around in very far lol. I decided on swinging doors so that I could utilize the doors as things to hang stuff off of. I plan on putting a fold down table and a paper towel roll holder on one door and some stuff on the other door so when I open the trailer up I can use the back of the trailer as a kitchen or prep station for stuff.

The ramp is great if you sometimes carry a dirt bike somewhere or something like that!!

I figured! Ramp will make that waaaay easier! Especially if you lift yours like mine! Would be hard to get a dirt bike in mine right now without a ramp

That is true but i would like the door ramp to make it easy to get in and out of when loading/unloading.

It sucks having to work all the time. I'm trying to get caught up on all the Fab work and once I'm caught up I can resume on this thing!

Okay, so I'm still far from done with the trailer, but it did make its maiden voyage this weekend. The wife, the kiddo, the doggo, and myself went up to Big Bear Lake for the weekend. Not without challenges though....

Been super busy at work lately and still had a few things to get done before we left on Friday morning. I installed another solar panel on top of the trailer and installed D ring tie off points (temporarily) since I don't have my milk crate racks built for my storage yet. Thursday I was so busy that my homie Greg @Kicker73 did me a huge solid and came to my house while I was at work and wired up my trailer brakes, trailer breakaway kit, and trailer brake controller!! He saved me big time cuz I definitely needed the brakes coming down the mountain! After work on Thursday I came home and got crackin on packin! Got a bunch done that night and my wife and I decided to finish in the morning and try to leave by around 10. We got up in the morning and made an awesome team getting everything finished up and we were able to hit the road by 10:30 am.

Quick stop at McDonalds for some breakfast and we were on the road. Truck was pulling the trailer great and the trailer was doing awesome tracking nice and smoothly behind the truck......

Then after about 40 miles I noticed on my trailer on the driver side tire that it was wobbling a little bit. Didn't look right so I decided to pull over off the 91 right next to Anaheim Toyota. I got out fearing the worst and my conclusion was correct. I was missing the dust cap on the axle, there was no more grease, and the bearings were absolutely toast! I hobbled my way to an oreillys parking lot in this nice 100 degree weather heat wave that we were having and jacked the trailer up with the Hi Lift to assess the damage further. I figured "it'll be fine, I'll take the axle nut off, remove the bearings have them replaced and get back on my way".

However, the washer behind the axle but told me it wouldn't be that easy. Once I removed the axle nut, I discovered that the washer behind it which has about 3/4 circle and a small flat side on the inside circle and twisted its way onto the threads of the spindle. No way I was getting it off without some sort of cutting tool. I say there in the parking lot baffled at what I was gonna do. All of the sudden, a nice man appears and asks if I need help. I explain the situation and he tells me he was a machinist in the area and knows all of the places I should go to get help. He sends me to Cervantes Road service a mile and a half down the road and I hobble my way down there. This is at noon now. I explain to the guys at the shop what is going on and they quickly get to helping me out. They had a lot of customers but told me they would help me as quickly as possible to get me going on my trip. Unfortunately because I didn't have an appointment and they were understaffed that day they were back and forth between my trailer and the other cars they were working on.

After a few hours of waiting and hoping we were going to be able to get back on the road they busted out the Oxy Acetylene torch and burning that stupid washer off. They got it off but the spindle but I still didn't have a lead on the parts that I needed because I didn't know for sure what all needed to be replaced. After removing we came to the conclusion that it needed a whole new drum assembly because the races for the bearings were badly worn and had a lot of grooves in them!

I found a custom trailer builder about 7 minutes away called Trailers Unlimited and I spoke to a gentleman and asked him if he had the parts I needed. A 6 lug trailer hub is not very common. Usually 4 or 5 lug. He went to check in the back and came back to the phone and told me "you're lucky, I accidentally ordered this part a few months ago and it's the only one I have". It was meant to be that I broke down where I did. I went and got the parts which were $95 so not too bad. The shop even let me take their company truck to go pick up the parts. I got back and we quickly had the new drum on and the manager made sure everything went back on smoothly.

    IMG_3908.jpg

Thanks to them we were back on the road at 5 pm lol. 7 hours later!! We hit Chick-fil-A and we're back on the freeway. Out of trouble! Thank goodness......

    Or so we thought!

At the lowes in highland it was about 7:45 and my daughter was saying she had to go poop. So my wife took her inside and I took the dog out for her to go pee. I put her back in the truck and decided to inspect the trailer. To my disbelief, the new dust cap was missing AGAIN!!! What in the hell!?!?!?? :annoyed:

So I quickly decided to run into lowes and grab material for a bandaid fix. Aluminum foil tape, gorilla tape, a rubber flexible PVC pipe plug, and a large hose clamp. Patched it up in the parking lot and we were on our way! We finally got up the mountain and found a camp spot up a trail at 9:30 PM.

We were all exhausted and we made our bed and crashed!!!

We woke up in the morning and we're stoked to have had a good night sleep!

We got dressed and decided to explore our area a little. We really loved our spot and had a great time checking things out.

We made some breakfast and then decided to head down to the lake because the weather was so wonderful! The lake was great and the water felt amazing!!

    IMG_3997.jpg

After we got done with the lake, we headed back up the trail to our camp spot for my daughter to take a nap. As we're heading up the trail, we run right into @JaCado and his son!! Wasn't expecting to see anyone that I knew up there haha. So they came back up with us to our spot and hung out for a while! It was great! When dinner time rolled around my daughter wasn't feeling amazing so we decided to just make it easy on her and roll back into town to Village Pizza (an awesome pizza place in Big Bear).

    IMG_3979.jpg

    YUM!!!!

We then drove around the lake and watched the sunset.

    IMG_3989.jpg

We made it back to camp and got ready for bed. Unfortunately there were no campfires so we just made it a night early. But we all hung out in the trailer and read books and played with the flashlights!

We woke up the next morning and had a little breakfast.

    IMG_3986.jpg

We played a little bit and then we decided that because my daughter wasn't feeling so great (can't tell from the picture I know) we would hit the road a little early. We packed up camp and said good bye to our beautiful spot.

We grabbed some donuts in town and made our way back home. Overall, had a great time even though it was short. Besides the faulty part on the trailer on our way up I was very happy with the way it performed and the comfort it gave us as a home base at camp!

Thanks again Greg @Kicker73 for helping me out with the trailer brakes at the last minute. It was night and day difference with them coming down the mountain!! Needed them.

Yay Big Bear! That's our first trip with the trailer

Nice dude! Glad its working well for the fam! Did you find the trailer unstable at all without any rear jacks when you were inside?
