Not answering til I see pics of the clutch

jk. Lots of people on here like redline mtl. I think they use mt90. Basically the general consensus is to use a gl-4 75-90 or 80-90 (I believe). Gl-5 is prone to degrading brass (which part of your syncro is made of)

My '96 Tacoma owner's manual calls for Multipurpose gear oil (NOT hypoid gear oil) GL4 or GL5, 75w90.
After my recent clutch job, I refilled with CarQuest full synthetic GL-5/MT-1 75w90 from Advance Auto Parts.

Mine was just barely slipping. No 'chunks' missing and both it and the flywheel looked just fine. Suspect the pressure-plate spring started to fail, but it's landfill now!

If you didn't get replacement calipers with the mounting brackets, check that the sliding pins aren't sticking or seized in the brackets. Also, rust can build up under the thin pad guide-shims causing the pads to stick in the brackets.
Another thing to check is sometimes the old rubber brake hoses may look OK outside, but swell-up/plug-up inside, restricting release of brake fluid pressure after the brake pedal is released.

My '96 Tacoma owner's manual calls for GL4 OR GL5 75w90 in the manual transmission. The oil I used was CarQuest GL5 75w90 MT-1 synthetic gear oil.
Does the Mobil-1 have MT-1 printed somewhere on the jug?
Some car manufacturers allow only GL4 oil. You might want to google or eMail Mobil and see what they say.

Hi everyone, I about to do my time belt and I want to change the seals..how many seals do I need? I think they are the camshaft seals, are there 2 or 3? Are they the same and where can I get them from? I order a time belt kit but they didn't come with them. I know I don't need to change them if they aren't bad but better to do them while they are out then later when they fail
