Ever since I got my first car, the first thing I wanted to do was trick it out: make it my own. So I started screwing tacky lights and obnoxious speaker systems to the body and engulfed my effort in all sorts of areas to modify. However, today I attempted to lift the rear of the vehicle. I was going through all of these complex algorithms and equations on how to safely detach the rear differential from the suspension and I threw in the rear suspension blocks and put everything back together. As I was screwing in the last bolt, I had come to realize instead of lifting the dang thing, I lowered it. My plan of action as of now is to flip the differential. First I will remove the leaf springs. Next, I will attempt to grind out the radius of the differential in the shock mounting plate. I'll reinstall the leaf springs on top of both the shock plate and rear differential. Lastly just throw the U-bolts in upside down, therefore I should end up with about a 5 inch lift. If you have any questions or advice please feel free to contact backIMG_1058.jpg IMG_1055.jpg IMG_1054.jpg

You put the block on top of the leafs (like you have) to lower. To raise you put it underneath the leaf pack...
don't understand how you screwed the pooch on this one.
Just remove them and put them in the right spot.

If I were to put it under the leaf pack, it would just extend my rear shocks. Is that what I'm supposed to do?

You need to get new axle leaf perches welded onto the other side of the axle to do an axle flip lift. Plus remove the original perches. Need longer shocks and longer u-bolts.

If his axle was underneath the leaf springs you would be correct, but if you look at his pictures, the axles is ontop of the leaf springs so putting the spacer underneath the leafs will do nothing but extend the shocks. You need a different perch to lift.

Lift blocks can give you lots of axle wrap and wheel hop with hard acceleration. It is not the best way to lift a truck. Decades ago, I did 1" blocks on my Cherokee to level it and removed them quickly after the wheel hop problems.

Buy a whole new leaf pack. that's the proper way to do it. Otherwise put on an AAL.

    Spring Over Axle(SOA)+Block=Raised

Our 5Lugs are SUA. If you want to raise your rear, the easiest thing to do would be a Add a leaf(AAL). Besides that you can add a shackle lift and/or swap the rear springs.

I was hoping to just add an extension to my coil springs and shocks but it would obviously need to be a bit more hardcore at this point.
