So I just replaced the front "radiator" support bushings with poly ones from ES. The stock rubber ones were beat up. And of course, the bumper is rock solid as the ride is better now. Who would of thought after 50k this would be an issue? But it looks like the 3rd gen folks are only getting 5,000 out of theirs... Thanks again for the suggestions.

Anyone got a recommendation on low gloss black powder coated 3/4 shackles for standard rear bumper? I ordered Smittybilt and there is too much play because shackle width is too much for mounting eye width. They slide over to one side and move around too much. Also want lower gloss.

    Thanks!

Refer to the "Products Discussed in this Thread" at the bottom of the page for solutions. More specifically, look at Daystar D-Ring Washers to take up the slack.

Samiam. Looking for a lower gloss black powder coated shackle. Not sure if you saw that. And maybe one with a narrower gap at pin if they are out there. Washers are a good last resort I guess. Thanks anyway...

Anyone else got any tips on good 3/4 in shackle vendors that sell a more flat black powder coated shackle than say the Smittybilts? Warns are a bit too spendy. Also looking for some that have a narrower gap where pin crosses the shackle than the Smittys. Will use shackle washers if I have to so shackles don't slide to one side and look dumb, but mounts on the standard rear Pelfreybilt bumper are much thinner width than the mounts on the front Pelfrey bumper. Any tips are appreciated!

I use two of these per shackle. One on each side of the mount, on the inside of the shackle.

Question for people with 2nd gen Tacos

What did you do about this piece when you installed a Pelfrey bumper?

It has zero use now for me on my truck as it does nothing to support the grill. The bottom of the grill is held on now by zip ties on the bottom corners.

I thought about removing this completely and then fabbing up a new support in the center for the hood latch and all that... but wanted to see before I attempted it.

Are you talking about the thin metal cross bar between the headlights? I removed mine and trimmed the vertical running piece in order to fit my winch. I don't think it provides any real support to the hood latch and haven't had any problems with it removed.

I just did the front end conversion and steel bumper install. Didn't install that thin piece you're talking about and everyone seems sturdy enough

When I did mine on that metal channel there were plastic pin posts on each side that bottom of grill sat on. Then top of grille connected with 2 10mm crews and 2 plastic clips

Weird, I either removed them or something in that case because they are not there anymore...

Correction. Plastic posts bottom of grill sat on were on an arm coming off headlight. See pic
