IMG_0956.jpg Bought my 2002 SR5 ExCab just under a month ago, first Tacoma I've ever owned always wanted one and so happy to finally have one. Got some big plans. Gonna be doing 2 phases of my build.

Phase One: Superficial type stuff. Fast easy and usually cheap, make the truck look good.

    Phase Two: Performance.

There will be things here and their that are mixed and matched between my two phases, but it's going to be a over time build, nothing rushed.

So far the only things I have done are adding some LED strips in both foot wells that turn on with the headlight switch, and just got it back from the paint shop today really like how the charcoal grey came out on it. I got a a winch bumper coming, already got some new headlights with an LED strip that I'll throw on probably tomorrow, also have some Baja lights I'll add to the bumper once it gets here, and then I'm going to mesh the grill.

Rest of the phase one stuff is going to be fender flares, rear bumper, new backlights for the dash, redoing the trim and door handles, adding some other lights and little things here and there.

Then phase two. Higher power output alternator and battery, tire and wheels, winch, lift it ( 3 or 4 inches), exhaust, new seats and harnesses, then maybe farther down the line engine swap and supercharger, swap it to manual.

If you got any suggestions leave it in here help me build this thing, should be a lot of fun

Is that a 5 lug? I honestly can't tell from the pic. It looks awfully low and has awfully small tires for a 6 lug, but you say you got a winch bumper...

I would focus more on reliability stuff first. Ignore all the cool looking lights n' superficial junk, and make sure your ball joints, CV's (if it's 4x4 lol), filters, o2 sensors, shocks, etc... are in good condition.

    5 lug..

What performance are you looking for? I believe CX makes a turbo kit for it. I'm sure thats a 4 cylinder.

You can convert a tacoma from 5 lug to 6 lug? Aren't the frames different? Atleast that was case with my old Hilux. 5 lug Hilux frames were great for SAS

I don't think you can do that... at least easily. The 5 lugs are completely different trucks from the 6 lug PreRunners and 4x4's. The frames were different, steering knuckles, spindles, suspension, etc.

Lifting the 5 lugs are a little difficult since most lift kits are made for the 6 lugs. It's possible but not easy.
