Hey guys, recently have been looking into having some sort of surfboard storage inside my cab high camper shell while maintaining enough room to be comfortable sleeping in the back. Was thinking maybe pvc pipe or rope along ceiling of the shell or possible along the side, any ideas? thanks!

Perhaps a net? If you have a roof rack, you can attach a net or something else to the bolts/nuts on the inside of the shell.

I usually use my 6'4 and 6'0 ones so i understand I wouldn't be able to keep my 6'4 in without going at a diagonal angle. The internal storing racks I'm trying to figure out right now would be for the 6'0 and smaller ones.

I'm thinking about drilling in pvc pipe along the side to create something like this w/ only one holder. Not sure how I would go about attaching the pipe to the shell

then do this and store boards underneath... 6' 4" will still fit diagonally.IMG00140.jpg

I've considered this but I actually do a decent amount of landscaping work and I use my truck transporting alot of the supplies that would not fit if I had this setup. I do really like the idea down the line.

understand. It's tough to find that magic combo of function for all types of activities/work... it's like a mobile locker room slash storage shed. But it's easy to take the platform in and out... 2 2x6 boards for the cross braces in the cutouts of the bed, and two pieces of 3/4" ply for the platform. none of it gets fastened.

I suggest you drill through the top and hang the boards inside from the roof of your camper with some sort of bracket/carrier

I mounted Yakima carriers on top of my shell by drilling through.
You may not like the sound of that but with silicone sealant and oversized washers that reinforce them,
I have had no leaks for years now. They have taken a lot of stress under load.

ran into an issue, not sure how to bolt in rope into the fiberglass on the upper part of the shell...I'm considering going through on one of the window bolts.

But would even drilling that into a fiberglass shell be okay?

I would only use those if I already had a rack installed
