If I get a 4 or 5 inch lift. What's the max tire size I can fit without trimming?
    The wheel size is 16.

Do you already have an lift in mind? Are you 2wd or 4wd?

With these types of threads, it's truly impossible to say what will and won't rub. There are too many variables between type of suspension, alignment, wheel specs, and the tire itself.

35's cause no one makes bigger tires in a 16" wheel.

Well, there are some, but Not a lot of options.

It's not just a lift, what wheels are you using, what is the offset or backspacing, how wide are the wheels etc.

You're asking a question that is not really possible to answer without more information. You would probably still have to cut with 33's.

4 or 5 inch lift requires a bracket drop and IIRC none of those lifts can run anything smaller than a 17 inch rim

4 or 5 inches of lift on a 4x4 requires a DB lift like already mentioned and once you get over 3 inches (if you go with a suspension lift), you start running into problems with your cv axle angles, which is why drop bracket is required. However, if you have a prerunner (6lug 2wd) you can get maxtrac spindles which give you 4 inches of lift, then you can swap out coils/strut assemblies up front to gain more height without having to replace UCAs
