Really like this rig a lot. Would love to use your idea of shell load bars on my LEER but I would need to support my awning and that would require ingenuity beyond me.

I'm not super familiar with the awning mounts, but couldn't you just use two L brackets on the end to support it?

Thanks! Do you have a contractor cap? My tent has rails that can mount an awning

I was planning on putting the awning L brackets inside the cross bars.

You know that is exactly what I need to do. Thank you for that. Can you tell me where you got the load bars and price if you don't mind. I had planned to get a Prinsu for my cap to match my roof rack and I was waiting for a group buy but that is no longer a possibility. One more thing, you have a contractor cap that's rated for a higher static load than my standard LEER. Would I need to put a small plate under the feet of the bracket to spread the load more evenly? I will usually be loading 3-4 sheets of plywood on there. Sorry for the long post, its just that this seems like the direction that I need to go to for me to fully utilize my shell. Thanks in advance.

Have you seen the rails that are on the fiberglass shells to help spread the load?

^^ Yes, I was planning on getting a set of either Thule or Yakima or off-brand, until I saw this set-up. Should probably just get a set of those. I was just concerned that the feet of the load bars appears wider than the rails would be.

To be honest, I don't think those bars would work too well on a fiberglass cap. On davids, he has an aluminum skeleton on the inside, and the feet are bolted through that which spreads all the weight. On a fiberglass cap, I'd be worried about them just ripping out.

Sorry, didn't see this. I ordered from rackwarehouse.com

I think its the Van Tech M1010. I think i paid 120 shipped. They are rated for 500lbs. There is a metal plate that comes with it, for support under the cap. The bars are 59" wide

^^ That is great news.. So in your opinion should I get a set of tracks to mount this on? In a previous life I was a Loadmaster on a cargo aircraft and we were always paying close attention to PSI stress points on the aircraft floor, So I'm cautious.

The dealer said I could only get windoors with sliders if I had a Long bed. Since I have a short bed I can only get windoors, or sliders not both. My local A.R.E dealer said they could do both. Ill let you guys know if than can.

I would listen to @EatSleepTacos. The fiberglass shells are difficult. I have an internal skeleton on mine. So I just drilled through. You may need to get tracks and a different type of rack, which may be more expensive

A dealer lying? Or not knowing their ass from a hole in the ground? I don't believe it!

I have called 3 of the 4 dealers. I really dont want to go A.R.E but leer isnt giving me much choice. They mentioned that leer doesn't make them anymore for my year.

    Wut?

The beds have not changed from 2005 through 2015. Sounds like they are afraid of money. Consider that when you do buy as if they are on BS now, imagine what it will be like if you need support.

He's saying maybe they don't offer screened windoors anymore, so it's impossible to get a new shell made with them.

man, that would blow. I think the screens are pretty damn useful on the windoors.
