Found this problem when I jumped in the truck this morning. Took glove box off when I got to work and could plainly see the servo motor just hiccuping when circulation button is on, turn it off and clicking stops. A little research (links below) and I see you can get a part for this and replace it cheaper than the stealership wants.

So, looks like I'm good except for the most important part of all............. How do you get that thing outta there ?? Can anyone help me out ?

I'll include some pics tomorrow that I took showing everything behind the glove box. I'll also tell you what Mr. Toyota is quoting for the price to replace when I call them.

Looks like three screws and it out. You will probably have to remove the glove compartment to get at it better.

Remove the glove box and you will see the servo. It is abit tricky to get at the screws but you can use a short screwdriver. I poped apart my old servo and turned the gear 180 degrees and reassembled it, problem solved. A broken tooth will cause the clicking, but the gear doesn't turn all the way during operation.

I take small sockets that are the correct bolt size and put rubber hose on the sockets to make finger sockets for those tight spaces. Work like a charm. I've done about a whole set of metric sockets this way in deep and shallow for these stupid door actuators. Sometimes you just can't get a damn ratchet in there without disassembling half the dash.

well, I just got off phone with stealership. They said, part is $137 and 8 hours of labor because dash has to come off. Total cost to replace $767.

I'm going to post some pics here cause I cant see where these bolts are to remove it. Maybe you guys can point this out.

RED ARROW is where the clicking is. I suppose the Yellow arrow is pointing to the servo motor.......... More I look at the pic I think I've figured it out.
    What you think ?

    None. Yet...
Our Vibe has a screw that is visible and fairly easy to access like that one near the yellow arrow and one on the far side that isn't so much. Similar problem with the same flip it 180 or replace the small unit. I found that using one of those small finger/thumb ratchets from Harbor Freight helped tremendously.

I flipped the gear and it promptly snapped the new tooth at the end of it's travel after going between outside and recirculate 3 or 4 times. Car is almost old enough to get it's own drivers license so I expect that gear was pretty brittle. About $45 on ebay and saved myself the $200 or so labor to have it done. I only had to use a couple colorful metaphor's.

The servo is actually the little black box the arm connects to with the pig tail going into it

Just checking back in. Think I've got the right part number (87106-04050) and so far found it for $117. Once I get it off, I'll see if I can manipulate the gears 180 degrees and get it going again but for now, here's what I got. I'll keep ya posted.
