?

Anybody else have these problems with the six speed? How many miles did it have when it started?

Changing out the nylon bushing and my seat bushing or shifter seat I beilieve it's called. On my sloppy very long throw shifter on the 05' 6 speed trd sport. I just bought the truck about two months ago has 171 grand on the o.d couldn't pass it up for 8,700 it ran and runs great!Very loose very sloppy shifter though. The seat bushing was so wore out it broke into pieces when I took the shifter off. Couldn't even tell what is was. Some of it fell into the top of my gear box. Don't really no how to get the pieces but rig up a small tube on my shop fav and suck them out. Don't think it will kill it if I don't get it all out of the gear box though as it should just grind it into nothing. I will change the gear fluid out afterwords just to make sure though. I didint expect my seat lever bushing to crumble into pieces so I just ordered the main nylon bushing that goes on the bottom of your shifter. Don't make that mistake if anybody is having this problem. Make sure you get the nylon bushing and the bushing seat it sits in. More than likely they both need to be replaced and is a cheap fix to buy both at the same time. Usually come in the same dang package. Wasn't thinking though as I'm new to the newer toyotas. Will post more pix when I start working on it again tomorrow because like I said I ordered only the nylon bushing and not the seat bushing it sits in. Will be installing a short throw shifter asap. The throw in the 6 speed has a lot! My 88 5 speed 1st had the same problem being sloppy and such now it's very tight no sloppiness to it what so ever and the shifts are way crisp and beautiful. For now just fixing the sloppy and some throw on the 05. Hopefully Turns out like the ole 88. If I'm wrong about anything or anybody has any questions let me know please. Also would like to no everybody's opinion on the best short throw shifter I can get for my 05-15 6 speed?

Well it worked out good shifting is a lot smother and more crisp I guess they call it. Still a little sloppy but my shifter isn't making a grinding sound like it was just sitting on top of the gears. The bushing seat I purchased wasn't exactly the right one. Was grey and cheaply made in China instead of the moor thick green one you would get that was from Japan that isn't a knock off I would say. But it's a lot better for now. Just got to buy and install a short throw shifter now because the throw in these 2ndgen 6 speeds is crazy long! Will get the pics on here later :cheers:
