That all depends on how hard you press on the brakes^^
if you HAD to stop right away for some reason going 45, or 35, you COULD do that in the same time as the other.

I haven't had a ticket for over 35 years. The wife got one 30 years ago. It's just as easy to drive the speed limit!

Yeah, I take the 405 and I'm at the point where I dont even bother slowing down when I see a CHP. I also have a friend that trained with the CHP and he told me that they dont really care unless you're going faster then 84mph or driving like an ass.

No you can't. Holding all the variable constant- reaction time, tire size, truck weight, coeff of friction, road surface. You carry great momentum at higher speeds. It's impossible for you stop a car going 45 as fast as a car going 35- unless you change reaction time or something else.

Plus you can only press the brakes so hard before you either lock them up or engage ABS- and ABS will INCREASE the stopping distance number at any speed.

it's not even worth the effort to argue with him. if he thinks you can stop in the same time/distance regardless of speed, then he has bigger issues.

i'm betting he is one of those people that can't tell an engine from a transmission and ends up draining the transmission when trying to change engine oil
