I Fluid Film my frame at the end of summer and just before winter every year. I run it through car washes with an undercarriage wash all summer long once a week or every two weeks and then get under there with "the wand" and power wash the inside of the frame as well as the outside.

I can tell you that once you coat the inside of the frame with Fluid Film that stuff is there to stay. I stick the pressure washer inside the frame holes many times during the summer to flush out all the dirt that Fluid Film attracts and I can still see the Fluid Film "oozing" out around the holes in the frame. If you read the directions on the Fluid Film bottle it says right there that water won't remove it and soap or solvent of some kind is necessary to remove it and there is no way to get it out of the inside of the frame rails using soap or solvent unless you go to the extreme. It's there to stay after a couple of applications.

I probably shouldn't eve be sticking a high pressure wand in all the holes in the frame. Pure water won't remove it but I still wonder. Still, I want to get all the dirt that Fluid Film attracts out of the inside of the frame and then just re-apply the Fluid Film at the end of every summer. I suspect that even a thick, gooey coating of Fluid Film covered in moisture absorbing dirt and dust inside the frame is better than a dry frame covered in salt and dirt that holds moisture forever.

Fluid Film works. It's just that simple. The stuff is amazing. It creeps into everything once you apply it. I spray the entire underside of my Taco with it every year and so far, so good, as far as frame rust or any rust is concerned. I do have some surface rust on my frame here and there but no serious rust at all and mine is a 2004 that has been in the mountain states where they salt the roads for the last 3+ years.

Every year if you live in the rust belt. Or, the mountain states. If you live in AZ, Southern CA or some other southern state you wouldn't need Fluid Film at all. Basically, if there is no salt spread on the roads in the winter, no salt air from the ocean and no mud trails being run you don't need Fluid Film. It's great stuff though so a real good application of it inside and outside the frame wouldn't hurt.

I do live in a southern state but the tacoma I picked up has rust on there that needs to be taken care of. The ac compressor and alternator were so damn corroded I don't know if rebuilding them is worth it. There's rust behind the cam sprockets that I need to sand off and all of the idler pulleys have to be replaced.

Southern truck but 1st owner just never took care of it and drove it all over the place.
