im upgrading my head unit to a 4200NEX with a Maestro RR interface. I think one of my tweeters is failing on me.

I'm not looking to do an amp upgrade at this point, could come later though.

In searching through the forums it sounds like upgrading the speakers in a JBL system can be problematic. Wouldn't mind something a little nicer, just can't seem to totally understand my options for a JBL setup.

I'm not terribly concerned about mounting issues, just don't want to lose volume and of course I'd like to improve quality a little.

Probably should have noted this is a 2010 Double Cab, of course with JBL :)

Do your homework, lots of good wiring diagrams on TW. Crutchfield kits are good and from what I have read they are not 100% plug n play. There is some splicing of factory wires that has to be done to maintain stock functions but customer service at crutchfield is helpful.

I have read through and seen them, as best I could with the searches on here. That said, now that I have the new head unit in I've noticed two things (but need to spend more time with it). One, the cracking I was hearing with what I thought was the drivers side tweeter, seems to be gone....hopefully that stays that way. Second, I think it sounds better now with the new head unit. It has a better EQ on the new head unit and so far I'm pretty happy with it, so may not have to dig into speakers for a while....
